Well what i learn from people here is to use google keyword tool and search. Just use the results which has less competition but more daily searches. You can also see roughly what keywords your competitors are using just by typing in their url. But if you want to get ranked higher i suggest you find ways to get backlinks and traffic. Keywords do not really help much these days..

take a look on tools.se0book.c0m which has a keyword tool which combines the best bits of various keyword search engines

I don't know if it's available here or not... but I like the method in Affiliate Bully.
It's simple using KeywordSpy (to see the keywords actually being used on competitors site) and then running the list through Google's Keyword tool to see the expected traffic and cost.
