As the title suggests, when doing keyword research which domains immedately catch your eye in the top 10 results that make you think twice about going for a particular key term? I am not concerned with backlinks to page simply the TLD. As an example, if you see an ezinearticle sitting in the top 3 do you immedately think, hell yea, that one looks acivable even before you have checked the incoming links?

Looking for CURRENT opinions post all the damm G updates of late - if we could all chip in a and create a good list it will be helpful to all in terms of keyword research in the current serps climate....cheers. :D

    Mine would be something like;

    1.ezinearticles
    2.articlesbase
    3.hubpages
    4.yahoo answers
    etc,etc

OK, so we are all confident in ranking our pages regardless of the competition?!

Here's the deal - I am working on a system which provides the keywords that your least feared competitor is listed in the top 10 results. This is why I am looking to hear what domains you consider to be the least competitative and therefore easy to rank when you see such a competitor in the top 10 results.

As I said, I like to see ezine articles, articlesbase those type of sites ranking in the top 10 - when they are present I know pretty much that I can rank easily.

As an incentive I will provide one contributing person here with a nice keyword and domain report for their least feared competitor - this info is golden, a huge list of keywords, search numbers and serp positions your least feared competitor is ranking for - simply create an article which is a little better and you will rank!

Lets get this started - list your least feared domains!

i think most of the time , the results which are in top 10 have very low On page seo and they are missing keywprds from the onpage part but have Backlinks with the Kw anchor .also 99% of the times the pages are missing the Edu links which is 0

i think u can do one thing , let the user decide to select the results in the google front page and then allow them to check the keywordss from the selected url

Everey niche has its own domains and stuff , if u can make somethign that can extract all the KW from a a selected site that might solve ur approach

so lets say : u search for some health keyword like "weight loss" and found websites like webmd , wiki or any major website on first page with some seo micro sites (there domain look differ , most of the time adsense targeted ), u can then let user to select the url from the top 20 comopetitors from where they want to extract the KW's and then go on with extyracting them from urls and anaalysing them

    hope this helps

Yes, I really know this problem - There are some you can't get upon. But the system your are going to build has to be flexible to adopt individual sites.

In my case the usual suspects are

    wikipedia
    douglas
    all the price search engines
yelp (or how this damn review site is named)
    yellow sites

    Home Page:
I think it is url not the domain. There are many sites above wikipedia in many search queries. Although the domain wikipedia itself has a massive authority but google finds some other pages providing more relevant info to the end user for some queries.

.edu / .gov / wikipedia / amazon and every other authority site have been beaten multiple times so why not?
