Hey guys.

I am battling to understand keyword competition research and I would appreciate some help.

If I search for my keyword in Google, the top 10 results are fairly strong with some of them PR4+ and a good couple thousand backlinks. However, not to be swayed as I am building for the long term, I did some keyword anchor analysis on each of the top 10 results and not a single one was optimized for my specific keyword. Heck, they were not even slightly close to it. So I presume they were ranking based on relevant content.

So my question is, could I outrank them since I will be optimizing 100% for that keyword. I do NOT have an EMD but after much research, it doesnt seem to make THAT much of a difference. (please do the same research before you flame about this) I will be building quality links manually with PR4+ *iriehost*iriehost*iriehost*iriehost*iriehost*iriehost*iriehost*iriehost links from blogs/forums/articles. I might blast those links with automated tools afterwards.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Well its quite simple those sites gain the traffic, and have the necessary link juice to be page 1. You definitely want to be correctly optimized but you dont want to over stuff your keywords on your site remember its more important to have high quality links with the correct anchor that is the majority of the factor, you need high quality article links, and HIGH PR site links from blogs, and forums. Link juice is what you need to focus on, as well as traffic buy some traffic in the services section that is also a huge factor simply because if the other people get more traffic then you they will always be more popular.

I wish you the best :)

I would suggest buying an aged domain with some PR. This will cut a lot of time getting the top. You won't have to deal with the google dance etc..

Check if the PR is real or not and what links and what pr the links are going to the site. Also check how many drops the domain has.

I found building an authority site to post articles for your keywords to be much more effective short-term and long-term compared to having all kinds of new MNS's.
