What keyword density is best or does it matter? I currently am running 2% - 2.5% but am wondering if I could rank better by increasing it a couple of percentage points.

I am aiming between 3 and 6 %.

By the way, SEARCH on this forum. There are hundred of threads talking about this.

Thanks for the help. I did search, but got some kind of db error so I just went ahead and asked

I aim to not go higher than 3% personally.

But it can depend on your niche, I think 6% is a little bit too high myself.

I think the optimal keyword density varies from niche to niche too. I was thinking of scripting a tool to take the top twenty results out of google for a keyword search and work out each sites keyword density. From this you could take an average, compare it across niches and see if there is a pattern.

Has anyone done this previously? You'd be saving me a good few hours of my life.

Hello,

I would advise lesser your keyword density if it is over 5%.

I agree I use 2-4% at the moment which goes well.

Just test it, if you want to know for sure. G has a website optimizer as well for this purpose.

Is keyword density based upon a specific keyword you use in your title or meta keywords? Or is it based upon the genre of your site (ie acne related keywords %)?

another thing to consider is the relative term density a few years ago Google employees talked alot about how they are looking at relative terms i.e. a page with the targeting the keyword "snooker" may benefit from having related terms on the page i.e cue table balls etc. That isn't the best example but you get what I mean.
