keyword competition

I'm just starting to get into blogs and am wondering what is the easiest way to find out if a keyword is worth going after? Basically I don't want to try to monetize a keyword if the competition is too good. If there is a tool that works great let me know.

senuke does a quick check but it cannot allways be accurate

just check how high is search volume for the keyword and what kind of competition on Google, I do it always manually because keyword research is allmost most important thing in site building.

Senuke looks easy enough. I just checked out the video on their website. Ill give that a try. Thanks. Overall it looks like a great package.

that depend on your skills of course..... and of course some keywords are paying so high that they are worth to compete more.... and when you do keyword research you also should check how good sites are the top ones (how many backlinks, how good on site seo etc.) to see how hard is it to get on there.

MicroNicheFinder (MNF) is a cool keyword tool.

I use it daily, it has been mentioned numerous times across this board and I believe is available for free somewhere in here.

I chose to buy the software as it was highly recommended and I thought it was worth it.

I vote for MicroNicheFinder, but I think I'm also going to try SENuke as I'm seeing it mentioned more and more on the board.

Ok.. I tried Senuke but the version on here did not work correctly for keyword research that tells if a keyword is easy or hard to go after. On the website the video showed whether it was easy or difficult to rank high. However, the tool that I downloaded didn't show the same info.

What statistics should I look for that would tell me whether a keyword would be easy or difficult to go after and rank high on google?

I guess Ill try out MicroNicheFinder next to see how that goes too.
