I see there are a lot of key word generators out there. My questions are:

Do I really need 1000 keywords for a site?

What are the better progeams available?

In my experience, I never use more than 500 keywords for a website as the more keywords you put, the more your website looks fishy to search engines. It could result into a ban for your website.

excuse my ignorance.

Are these 500 distinct keywords? Do you use any software package to generate these keywords?

I personally use about 50 keywords all relating to purchasing the product (im an affiliate) and this gives very targeted traffic
