    Hello guys,

I have simple question, because I lost about 40-50% of my organic traffic after google update.
Well I spend a lot of money on SEO, so my question it's worth it to redirect 301 to fresh domain, because I know that it will pass link juice but not all, so I will lose a lot of seo work.

What do you recommend - keep doing SEO and pray for better rankings or start fresh ? Thanks

301 still works but it can be changes in G so you will have to start again...

    So it's up to you

If you have only seen a drop in traffic of around 40-50% it just means that the tactics you were using previously are not that effective now. Mix up your anchors a lot more and get links from lots of different domains and you should see it increase. Usually these days a drop in SERPs is due to a lack of variation in your techniques, add in a lot more variation and you should get back to where you were.

Well, I was thinking and it will be good for my branding name to move this domain to my personal domain as archive ... old.com -> mypersonaldomain.com/old/
Do you think that 301 will lost a lot of SEO Link juice ? :)

If your domain isn't slapped or under a penalty there is no point in moving to a new domain. Your links got devalued (I'm guessing) - revise your strategy and try again.

Well I have a lot of spammy backlinks that link to my website and did big mistake because I have domain with "-" and my competition take it without "-" (I was too lazy to buy it :( )..so I have my-domain.com and competition have mydomain.com with similiar content. Then I will think that moving this website to my personal website will boost my branding name, well in long term it will be great (I am guessing).

OP every situation is different, however, I always start over when a site gets penalized. You see too much time is lost tring to work out the kinks with a penalized site.

It's drastically easier to start a fresh domain while, testing different techniques(301s, quality links, anchor text, etc)on your penalized domain. Worst case scenario, the old domain tanks and the new domain ranks. Best case scenario, you find a solution for the penalized site and you have 2 sites ranking in the same niche.

I hope this helps.. Good luck!

Don't 301. Keep building good quality links on old site and you will eventually recover given that you have lost 40-50% traffic only - suggesting devaluation of spammy links.

Did you get a message in GWT? If not, you should recover in due time

In my experience, I think a fresh domain is always the best. But keep it clean in the future and learn from your previous mistakes. I guess the knowledge you gained from the past domain should have taught you some valuable lessons.

Then with good quality links you can recover. Check kimi's post on seo in 2013. Good write up on building links.

    Good luck.

Hardly a few days went by. Build links give it 3-4 weeks and then check
