It doesn't have to be public. A trash/garbage section has been useful for sites I've owned.
For example someone makes shitty posts or threads I throw it in a trash section instead of completely erasing it. Then all of a sudden he turns out to be a dirt bag I have his threads/posts with other members opinions showing that he is a complete asshole.
Usually this is an admin/mod only section.
There are to many threads/posts deleted here at least this way some of it can come back. Really I think there is to much moderation done to new and old members and complete threads although possibly negative shouldn't be deleted. I've seen good information deleted several times, but the warnings or other information was taken out because it seemed biased. Let it go, it would make for a more impartial view of everything.
