I hate that website. I've never learned a single useful thing from any lens on Squidoo. I hate making lenses. I hate the modules. I hate the way it works. I hate reading other people's lenses (with their cleverly disguised affiliate links). I hate inserting my own links into squidoo. I hate how everyone uses that stupid big ass arrow link module. I hate the quote bubble one. I hate the "see shit for sale about [your topic] on amazon" module. I hate "what the web says about [your topic]" module. I hate the youtube module.

Unfortunately, I have to make lots of Squidoo lenses for my sites. But I hate doing it. I'd rather write 10 articles for Ezinearticles than make 1 Squidoo lens. I even hate saying the word "Squidoo" in my head. One time I said it out loud for the first time in conversation and I wasn't even sure if I was saying it right. Squih-DOO? Emphasis on the second syllable right?

I feel so much better now :D

I'm with you on this one. It's good to vent once in a while. Good luck with your website.

Ahahah, IMer rants are hilarious.
Gotta do what you gotta do man.
G'luck!

Link wheels? No good for you, although, yes, Squidoo has been raped in the arse with a two dildos

I'm making one now. I had to delete like 7 default modules.

Plexo, Google Blogs, some voting shit, Flickr, a bunch of other shit that I never use. And I hate how when you check them all and do "delete" it takes like 30 seconds to process.

Then I get to add in the ones I want. The big ass arrow is super stupid but everyone loves it so I add it.

MY FAVORITE LINK
*ARROW*

I can just see people reading my lens, being like "oh gee, I sure do hope this guy tells me what his favorite link is."

and then like 20 seconds later when they scroll down

"yes!!!! His favorite links!! I'm gonna be sure to click this right now to see what kind of goodies teh internets has in store for me!!!"

Hehe. Sorry if this wasn't your intention but I actually enjoyed this post.

Ive never done a whole lot of squidoo lens creation but I realise your frustration. Sometimes I wonder why some things have become as standard as they are, kinda like twitter.

Seriously what is the point of twitter? It is a severely crippled blog with piss all options, why only 140chars?

It does feel good to vent sometimes. Best of luck to you mate.

LOL Linkwheels at their best! I'm trying out the Horseshoe one! Anyway, yea, squidoo sucks a little since they removed the xrated stuff for me so adult lenses are more tame...

With you 100% on Squidoo these days. Used to love them. I could pick a small niche, build a lens, throw some social bookmarking in the mix and hit #1 in G n/p.

I can still do it, but Squidoo will lock my lens a month later.

To keep it below the 160 character limit for an SMS?

I'm not sure.

I hate Twitter too.

Everyone is all OH DUDE I TWEETED YOU! Shut the fuck up. Just fucking call me if you want to talk. I hate having to check 50 different "social" sites just to find out what the fuck my friends are up to. You're standing in line at the airport? That's fucking exciting. Tweet about it. You're taking a shit? That's FUCKING AWESOME I'm glad you told all your Twitter friends. You're going 100mph? Rad. How about put down your fucking cell phone and keep both hands on the wheel while you break the law. Or at least wait until you're at your destination and then send a Tweet, "hey guys I was just going 100mph!"

edit - I do thoroughly enjoy text messaging, however.

I agree completely about squidoo.

1) It takes 2-3 times longer to make a squidoo lens than it does to make a wordpress.com blog due to all the stupid modules.

2) It's heavily moderated, so you have to spend even more time making it look legit.

3) It doesn't even rank that well.

4) I hate the cutesy image of Squidoo, it's all rather pathetic, with the little squiddy thing and the little notes from users as you sign up saying how squidoo is sqid-tastic etc. You get the feeling that if you told the makers of squidoo you were signing up to spam them, they'd get all tearful.

Do you guys ever use ever.com? It's linked to Squidoo somehow... you enter all this shit and then it makes you a Squidoo lens but you get a different URL. It's exactly the same, except it sticks you with other default shit including a fucking list of 20 bullshit links (it asks you for 3 of your own, and then it mixes them in with 17 others that are TOTALLY UNRELATED and take FOREVER to manually delete.

Squidoo implements nofollow for lenses that are not featured in its list. Squidoo is big on hype. Too much faith in itself.

How about we trade, you write me 10 ezinearticles and I make you 1 squidoo. haha

Squidoo ranks your sites well, but you are right, it sure is a pain in the ***

I'm thinking of starting a site called HAIRdoo then one called MUCHAdoo
and then another called DOGdoo ... any bets one which will work best?

(I'm joking of course)

You may as well add WhoopTDOO to your list! Squidoo has "censored" three of my lenses for being "too commercial" and one was a free download for a weight loss tool. Oh well, on to other IM methods!

I have to agree...it can take me longer to set up one poxy Squidoo lens than it does an Amazon autoblog which I can set up in less than 30 mins.
