Hey how's it going?! I just made a super sketchy decision to work 20 hours per week. Long story short I am working at a motorcycle dealership with unsaavy internet guy as the GM. I don't think he knows how to use me as a tool in his arsenal, not only do I do work for them online. I wear many hats around there washing bikes, sweeping, filling in for peoplle selling sx tickets. Pretty much everything and anything they tell me to do I did it. Was there for a year and a half. They didn't feel I was valuable enough to give a review to or a raise. Went to work and asked for the raise again still got a bullshit excuse, and basically flipped out on the guy politely. We discussed our opinions in the sales office. And we agreed that I work there part time. I am a little nervous right now. But the job was dead end. And there was no opportunity for me to move up in the company or make more money. So all in all im 28 years old renting a room, and something inside says its time for a god damn change. Im donestrgling wish me luck!

THanks

Congratulations!

Now that you have less hours in your day job you have even MORE reason to get down to business with IM. Use this as your motivation. Ensure that you keep going so that one day you can drop those assholes altogether and make more than they could dream of.

NOW GO GET SHIT DONE!!!!

Now THIS sounds like an awesome beginning to a really cool book.

The question is, how good is your story gonna get?

Good luck mate. It would have been better to ramp up the online shit before dropping the hours. Sometimes necessity is the mother of invention. I hope it is in your case. Some people are only successful and work when their backs are against the wall. Wishing you luck but most of all success.

Funny you say this, and that is exactly how i work better with my back against the wall the other day I sold 7878's review system to a dentist all over the phone. I turned him from a local seo inquiry to a review system. My rent was due, and i came up with 300 bucks in two days. I used to sell umbrellas in the rain in laundry mats in downtown santa barbara. I used to cold call people from ads out of the pennysaver of people selling their house to give me a chance to get an application for a refinance. Which includeD a "sosh" social security number. Over the phone, I know I am fully capable. The wolfs inside growling I just gotta set it free!

Considering that Im renting a room at f****ing 28 years old. Makes me sick to my stomach. My book should go far. Thanks for the comment.

Excellent. I tend to NOT do so well under pressure. That's when I am likely to crumble.

I like to have my day job ( 36 hrs per week ) and know that I can leisurely try IM. But maybe one day I may be in your situation and surprise myself.

Exactly my thoughts!

Good luck man. I know I can get more IM done in 1-2 weeks away from my job than I can in months of just doing it after work and on the weekends.

Yea no shit if i could get started on a fresh morning rather than after work Id be f*ing stocked, and on top of that you can't talk to clients after work, well you can but I get home at 6pm. So it's just non professional or running around on my lunch break.

This usually takes a while to learn how not to procrastinate, but you on the other hand seem pretty motivated.

Just a saying here in this country: when you shift in the next cashflow quadrant with a move-on decision, make sure not to burn your bridge along. Yesterday he is your employer - tomorrow he's your customer. So rent another phone line with a pink phone into his office and market his business channeled into that phone number. Let a couple of months pass, and go ask him about how many clients called him on the pink phone. ;)

i can't help myself from asking,
do you have reserve capital to work on your rep management business?
can you afford the upkeep and monthly maintenance of your biz and yourself?
how many client that you can realisticly score and what is your previous track record in handling client?
how many successfull service that you have successfully delivered before?
can you maintain your lifestyle if you happen to be living in the worst case scenario e.g. no clients for a (few) month, late payment, service cancellation etc?

i don't mean to put the negativity here but if you need to be pushed to the wall to be successfull, maybe you'll get it sooner but holding on the success would be some issue later on.

if i were in your shoes, i would find another job that are related to IM, gain more knowledge and experience, stable up myself first, have some plans and backup.
when the time is right and with enough resources in hand, i'll do it for full time.

imagine what will happen to your reputation if one of your client happens to appear at your parttime work place and discover you work there. what will happen to your consultant persona?

Hi awesome feedback, and no to mostly all the above. I still work there part time starting on the first. So it will bring me about $800.00 a month. I told my boss I either need a raise or less hours to focus on going into business for myself. I use the dealership as a reference to most clients. And let them know that I have a fulltime job and can speak after 6pm.

I plan on selling legit seo services I have a really really really good supplier.
Door knocking/cold calling small business's and just introducing myself asking simply ask if they need internet marketing services at a cheap price, as I am still learning and growing my startup. ENTREPRENEURS LOVE HELPING ENTREPRENEURS.
I am decent with running adwords campaigns. Plus I just learned how to use CO_OP advertising funds for Adwords. They pay 50/50.
C/L postings I charge 5$ an ad TO ASSIST COMPANIES.
Sell 7878's method. EASYYYY SELL.
Flip garage sales and ebay.
Put resumes out at temp agencys for seo entry level positions.
Put Resumes at other local dealers.

totally agree on "entrpreneur love to help entrepenuer".
btw, it would prolly nicer if you are promoting affordable IM services instead of "cheap" IM services.
a lot of business owner prefer something affordable rather than cheap

try to offer different pax with different payment term, upfront payment savings etc. provide alternative to your client since there are no one size fit all solution esp for IM.
i think you know the drill on what works best.

the most important of all. try to reduce burnout and manage your capacity, energy and motivation wisely.
always have someone e.g. gf, to evaluate your current situation since we all tends to lie to ourself unconsioussly.

Funny girlfriend told me yesterday she needs one day with no work. One day to relax. Im like hmmm, ok. One day. Sunday.
