Just ranked spot 2 in 3 days on a fresh blog

So I've just noticed my blog is ranking #2 for my keyword on google which seems strange as the site is only about 2 weeks old and the blog post is 3 days old.

Have I cracked the algorithm or just gotten lucky lol

Cant happen mate , looks keywords have low competition !

If it's an easy keyword, you could hit #2, but I bet you won't stay there. You will go down (probably) this happens to me a lot. But then over time the rankings come back slowly, not always the best ranking, sometimes it will come back to #4 and settle there, it may go higher in time. Newer pages can do that on fresh sites.
 
Very very low competition keywords can easily rank with good quality content. But to sustain the ranking you will need backlinks.
 
Wait for the google dance. If your keyword has no competition at all, you'd probably stay up there.
