Well I bit the bullet and paid $250 for a domain at go daddy auction. The domain has my main keyword in it with 411 like information. It is a pr5 from a google DMOZ link and is ten years old. Think it was worth it?

Why don't build up the site and find out?

I thought it was almost impossible to get a DMOZ link anymore?

If you have a solid plan for the domain I don't see why it was a bad buy. I'm just not a fan of Go Daddy. Good luck with it... I hope you make your money back on it!

    Agreed Jared.

Also, you never know it's true potential until you test it out. Develop it and do some split testing (depending on the site). Then you'll see it's true value.

I paid $300 for my business domain name just because I really wanted that domain name and I happened to find a private owner that didn't use the domain anymore and was unaware of it's real value.

Domain was 8 years old and the name has been everything from a Movie Title to Fruit drink brand name.

Now that name is sporting my offline IM business and my DJ business.

I've purchased domains on drop auction for $10k, $15k, and $30k .... so $250 isn't bad at all.... lol
