Hello, I just got a dedicated server costing $220+/month !, yes its alot for me and this is the first time I'm getting it.I don't even sure yet what I needed for but I'm pretty sure I will need it.Like submitting stuff or xrumer which I will get soon. :)

And yes, the internet speed is 1000 mb/s , I can now download 10 movies in 10 seconds.

just a bit excited and needed to post here to feel better.

damn, your "pretty sure you will need it"

good luck with that.

hope you can build sites fast!!

Sorry, but it was pretty pointless paying that kinda money if you don't even have a use for the dedicated-server yet, but good luck to you my friend.

just because your on 1gb/s does not mean you will get that speed....

thats like my isp telling me i get 25mbps.....

i doubt its a dedicated connection for 200$ a month... but deffinatley some wicked uses for dedicated server i want to pick up one soon but i want to get canadian dedicated not us.. or even Co-Lo. if theres a center near by

True, but 1Gbps shared is still sick as hell. Gratz to buyer

I got a server today and I feel I waste the money, the only reason I ordered dedicated server because I wanted fast internet connection and today I check, I only got 1.2 mb/s ?? slower then my own my connection ? and I have quad processor which is alot better than the server I got, so this is a waste right, can anyone pls help me where I can find 100 mb/s connection speed ? I'm a bit confuse because they say on the site that I will get 100 mb/s but why its not ? Is this the way it is ? like 100mb/s shared among many users ? and I think I have some blackhat guys using the same connection because when I go to youtube.com from my server, I had to type the captcha on the homepage ?? so he must be taking all the bandwidth.

Thanks

Man, the dedicated server has nothing to do with your connection speed from your home

That is what I think you mean.

The speeds they are talking about is for you websites, but wont make a bit of difference for you if you are connected to the internet at the same speed.

If you want faster internet you just blew your money for a dedicated.

If you are using it as a proxy, you will still have the same speed as what you connect to the internet from your home.

Give it back and try to get your moneys back, I dont think you knew what you were doing.

You are making me abit confuse, I think I understand but I don't know.

Can you please tell me what connection speed other xrumer users use, I'm sure its not 1 mb/s, atleast 10-50 mb/s, can u please recommend some server package that I can get good speed (atleast 10mb/s)

Thanks

just got a vps a few days ago.

i jus tried remote desktop and it's pretty cool.

my max download speed on my internet is 125k/b.

i was downloading stuff at around 400kb/s to 1mb/s through my vps

Hey, if u don't mind, can u pm me which site you get the server, I guess I need a vps with fast internet speed, the problem is how can I really know which provider have fast speed because they don't advertise it.I'm getting only 437 kb/s download speed on a 100 mb/s network. So, this mean the provider is not good right and I should change the provider.

dude, read around here, theres a reason we push volumedrive.com, i dont know in how many ways i can say it... cheap, fast, great support and they are willing to do crazy shit if you want it, gige connections are always shared, and shared amongst a LOT of users, sure its a gige port to your switch, but what speed uplinks do the switches have to the routers? how much idle bandwidth is on the routers? welcome to the world of oversold bandwidth!

guys,
I used to sell colo and hosting for a living... there are some things you need to keep in mind, and i'll let you in on some inside tips...
1. there is always an overhead on bandwidth, period. a 10M connection will actually top out somewhere in the 8s.
2. you get what you pay for in a virtual server. there are always limitations on the box and limited upgradability. they take one box that would be a dedicated server and put usually at least 16 virtuals on it/or a balance of different levels of virtual to that same point.
3. big colos/hosts more carefully monitor and regulate each box. if you can find a mom and pop colo (think someone's garage/basement) you can probably pay less and get away with much more. I'm sure there are cases of both where the opposite is true, but usually small colos are happy so long as their internet still seems speedy and they get paid each month. my best customers (the ones who send payment before you send an invoice) were never questioned to what they were doing, but also were almost always maxing out their allotted bandwidth. If you find that you are not being throttled, find a way to throttle yourself to what you are paying for: they will notice! they will nullify/renegotiate your contract!
i'm not going to advertise a specific colo to you, but i can make reccomendations if you need. (PM me)
