So I just launched my website last week after building it for months. I did my best to optimize it for keywords I am targeting based off info i found here and other resources. I signed up for Ahrefs to see if maybe the data they provided could send me in the right direction but since my site is so new they have barely any data. Essentially I have 0 backlinks and 1 organic keyword...
When I go to google search console it shows that 130 of my 360 links have been indexed in the sitemap part of google search but when I search for my keywords I am nowhere to be found.

When I search site:mywebsite in google it says 474 results but i'm getting 0 organic traffic. I check the search console probably 25-30 times a day hoping for some data but nothing yet. I know it has only been 8 days since launch but I want to put forward my best effort to help my site been seen and get customers.

So I guess my next step would be too start trying to get some back links. Where is a good place to start? I can see that some of my comp uses pinterest to get back links so that is my plan but figured I would check with people far more knowledgeable then me before spending hours doing that.

Any comments are appreciated,

Thanks for your time

Pinterest is a image search engine and a great place to get traffic and recognition. You can get social backlinks but Pinterest alone won't help you ranking on SERP.

Tru to get backlinks from other blogs in your niche and do blog commenting.

So essentially i just need to search for blogs in my niche that allow commenting and write something like "Great post, this information has helped my site http://www.mysite.com greatly. Thanks for your info." Something like that?

Ah, no. I think Shafi means to connect with them (through commenting is good) and then trying to get a post on THEIR site with a link to YOURS

You don't have to add URL in the comment. Use the website section provided in the comment form.

That's exactly what I mean. You don't have to be spammy and just leave comments to get a "nofollow" link. Add value to your comments and get into the blog owner radar. Later on, contact him and ask if you can share a guest post on their site with a "********" backlink to your site.

Checking google console 25-30 times a day it tells me that you are not working.
You are expecting.

Get yourself a pinterest account. Since your competition is doing it, they either do it for traffic or for backlinks. I tend to think it's the traffic.
Build it up and share your posts there.

While you are at pinterest, make facebook, twitter, insta. You can use some service to schedule your posts, so it is mostly hand's off. ;)

Starting building links. Anything decent that you can get your hands on. Expired web2.0's, some bookmarks, comments and go for guest posts.
Be consistent for a few months and see where you get.

Thanks for your input but your assumption that I am not working could not be farther from the truth. I am just excited to see how my hard work has paid off and to see what kinda first impression my website has on google.

Facebook, twitter, insta have all been taken care of but I will look into the other options you mentioned.

Thanks

@ Shafi

I did not mean to leave spammy comments, but engaging with somones posts are likely to warm them up to the possibility of a guest post.

It is chatting at the bar or coffee shop rather than asking the secretary for an appointment.
