Just indexed by Google after a few days and on page 5....good, bad, no big deal?

New to SEO and just got my first niche site up...

Submitted my sitemap a few days ago, and checked today, and I'm on page 5 for my keywords.

    - My exact 4 keywords = my domain name
    - My domain is a .com
    - 4 Pages, 4 indexed
    - Pretty narrow niche
    - Info/Review and CPA site (not adsense)

I'm working on submitting articles and building some forum profiles for backlinks, but none show up as of yet (which I understand it takes a while).

Have I done good, bad, or is this just no big deal? I mean, is this just run of the mill, what you'd expect in terms getting on page 5 for my keywords? (I understand that page 5 isn't goint to get me anything in terms of traffic, but is this a good start considering I don't even have any backlinks yet?)

I ask because if it is, I want to replicate what I've done as a starting point on my next site. If bad, I obviously need serious tweeking. If no big deal, then I'll just keep it up and improve.

    Thanks.

I would say it is pretty good. Google has decided with no backlinks and a new site, that it likes the keywords on the site and in the domain for what you wanted it to rank for.

My plan now would be to start sending fake traffic. There is a bot on this forum that will do it for you per proxie and you can use scrapebox's proxies and other free proxy sources.

Then I would submit the site to directories. Most of those take a while so they won't hit hard and fast, like 1000 backlinks in one day.

I like the idea of pushing the forum backlinks. That is a good idea. I would also pay for a small social bookmarking service. Work on getting those backlinks indexed.

On the topic of onsite seo, I would add new content twice per day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. I don't think to much on duplicate content so if you find an interesting article, copy and paste it, or you can spin it.

Then I would do some research on the first result. The site on the first page in the first position. You need to exam his backlink structure. You can do this mostly with firefox and seo quake. He/She is doing something right to be in the number one spot, so I figure copy them and do more. If you are doing the same thing he/she is plus more then you will out rank him in no time.

Hope that all makes sense. If not let me know and I will try to help.

Oh, I would also add Google Webmaster tools to the site. It will help you keep track of backlinks that google has indexed and what is being searched to find your site. It is probably one of the most important free tools that I think you can find online.

It's a good start having the kws you want to rank as your exact domain.com.
That's what gives you a boost.

It's hard to say if you are doing things good or great though, we all have different knowledge of SEO and what's a good result for somebody (heck, fifth page!? Awesome!) could be pretty normal to somebody else who's mastered the how-to to rank high.

Imo, if the kw isn't really competitive as it sounds, you can do better.

If proper seo has been done onsite... Then I think you got some good competition on that.

Keep on adding content and you should eventually climb, I mean, I always get indexed on page 3 at first, then I update(add the rest) of the content and then it´s page 1.

    Good luck.

Thats great! I would just keep building backlinks and adding content. If you don't have it already get Scapebox cause it really helps. Also it should take a few weeks to a month or two for the links to show up.

Depends on the niche. I've worked on sites where the deep pages that were worked on went top 3 within 2 days. I've also worked on sites where it took months and months to get into the top 5.
If you're looking for long term stability, work away, don't do anything shady and ask away if you ever need some advice.

    Good luck!

It's not big deal but it's a good start... I will say keep working on site slowly, update it on regular basis and soon you will have top ranking... Article marketing and press release will be good option to promote your site in start, later on you can try other stuffs... Keep quality content on site so visitors keep coming back to tour site... Every one appreciates quality... :)

Ans yes your strategy is good and you can replicate it on other projects...

    UPDATE: Page 1

Funny thing....it's been 9 months since my initial post. I actually decided at the time that niche sites and SEO wasn't my thing, so I lost interest.

Out of curiosity, I googled my key words today....and my site is now on page 1. Only thing I did was write a couple of articles and post links on a couple of related blogs (all 9 months ago), then pretty much forgot about.

I also did some checking and learned I've generated some affiliate income (amazon) that I hadn't even been paying attention to either. (Not much, but it's been picking up last 2 months since I guess it perhaps hit page 1 then).

    Too funny...

It's not a big deal. What matters is the competition on page one and by reading your last post, does it sounds like you picked a good kw :)

What's the exact local search volume?
