Just how important is the length of a post?

I would rather do daily posts on my blog that are shorter around 250 words than a weekly one at 700. It is really becoming a pain to make these longer blog posts If the quality is good can shorter blurps be good as well or what exactly is the deal when it comes to length? The only purpose of the new articles/posts is for fresh content on my site.

When i make a new website i try to add 5-10 1000 words articles, then refresh it with 400-500 words articles.
Adding the first lengthy articles (at least one 1000 words article) is important in this post-panda Era.

I agree with blasagoth. Goggle is outright denying Adsense applicants for sites with short posts. It looks spammy; better to put your time into one, long, quality post once a week.

When I launch a site, yeah, all posts are at least 800 words.
Then I add a blog and post about 250-300 words a week on average.
If you want the content to rank well, it needs to be long.
For just keeping a blog fresh, it doesn't even look natural to have every single post 800 words.

I agree, that looks very suspicious. When I start a site I target all the more competitive/higher searched keywords first with 800+ word articles. Then I as I move down my KW list posts can get shorter if the competition isnt as tough. But the important thing I think is to have posts ranging from 300-1000+ words to make it look natural.
