I'm sure everyone's heard about them and what a crappy company they are. They steal peoples domain names and also charge people's credit cards several times for nothing. When people do a charge back they hold the domains hostage and tell the customers they have to pay them even more money if they want to have their domains back. I'm surprised the FBI has not raided the company. If they were selling phyiscal goods it would long be shut down.

Unfortunately I did not move fast enough and just lost over 70 good white hat domain names :( Support won't answer my tickets or if they do they say I need to re-submit a new ticket to a different cue...which is does not make any sense at all. Anyways live and learn. I am thinking about joining the class action lawsuit against registerfly. You can read more about it here http://www.registerfly-lawsuit.com

Now thats some stupid bs right there! I am glad I decided to not register any domains with registerfly. Sorry to hear that for you Dave

I'm sorry to hear about you; it's been common knowledge for quite some time (a year at least) that reg-fly had become part of the domain registering ghetto. ICANN has even revoked their accreditation I believe and I don't think they've done that before with ANYONE.

Dave if you had knew that RegisterFly is such a crappy company then why did you buy domains from this company? Just a question since you know exactly what the company does to get money and domains.

Sincerely,
David Clark

I purchased the domain names about two years ago when things were okay for the most part. Sure some customers complained about registerfly but nothing like they do now.

If I had known that registerfly was going to be in the state they are now I would never have signed up.
Around Jan of this year, the CEO fired all of its employees except a handful I think it was like 4-8 people. ICANN just recently pulled the plug on registerfly's license...they are in appeals now stalling for more time.

The owner uses the money to buy prostitues and a $6,000 chiwawa --This is a fact I'm not making anything up! Just do a search on google. registerfly scam and you'll see what I mean.

What a waste on money. I am starting a few projects now that will need no more than $10-$20 each and will make a few hundred dollars a month. If i had $6000 i couldn't imagine how much money I would roll in.

i thought the same thing had happened to me, one of my domains was reported for link spamming and my host seized all my domains and were refusing to give them back, they wouldnt even let me retrieve my sites and databases that were hosted on their servers but luckily they seen sense in the end and i got them back :D

keep complaining and if that doesnt work threaten with legal action, report them to ICANN etc...
they might just change their mind if you can cause enough trouble for them ;)

whoops it seems ICANN has already taken action against RegisterFly :D

Termination of RegisterFly.com Registrar Accreditation Agreement
16 March 2007
ICANN today issued a formal notice of termination of RegisterFly.com's Registration Accreditation Agreement (RAA).

ICANN has issued a letter to RegisterFly [PDF, 902K] indicating that it will cease operating as an ICANN-Accredited Registrar on March 31, 2007. Under the terms of the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA), ICANN must provide 15 days written notice to RegisterFly of its intention to terminate.

Effective immediately ICANN has terminated RegisterFly's right to use the ICANN Accredited Registrar logo on its website.

Between now and 31 March RegisterFly is required to unlock and provide all necessary Authinfo codes to allow domain name transfers to occur. Any and all registrants wishing to transfer away from RegisterFly during this period should be allowed to do so efficiently and expeditiously.

"Terminating accreditation is the strongest measure ICANN is able to take against RegisterFly under its powers," Dr. Paul Twomey, President and CEO of ICANN said today.

"ICANN has been frustrated and distressed by recent management confusion inside RegisterFly," Dr. Twomey, President said. "I completely understand the greater frustration and enormous difficulty that this has created for registrants."

When the Agreement is terminated, ICANN can approve a bulk transfer of all current RegisterFly domain names to another ICANN accredited Registrar.

"Of course, RegisterFly does not have to wait till then. They can request ICANN to approve a bulk transfer immediately. I call on RegisterFly to act in the interests of registrants and seek such a transfer from us straight away," Dr. Twomey said.

ICANN intends to hold a forum to discuss the reform of the Accreditation policy and process at its Lisbon meeting in a week's time*.

A set of questions and points to inform the discussion will be made public prior to the Lisbon meeting.

* The Lisbon meeting is one of three meetings held a year by ICANN to meet with global stakeholders. It will take place from 26-30 March 2007.

godaddy picked up a lot of the registerfly mess...did you get your domains back from them.

(not that i like godaddy much better. try dynadot.com instead, although they are not so good for the blackhat stuff - moniker is better for that.)
