just got a mail for my website(tech blog) from a media buyer,
how much should I charge for different ad banners ?
my site gets around 2k traffic per day, though da is only 10
Adsense is not paying my bills ;( so give advice guys

Someone doing mass outreach, nothing more.

in 2010 someone had contacted me out of blue to pay me $50 a month to have his banner on my website (a MFA website if you know what that is). The website was ranking in google and was getting like several 100s visitors a month in the tech niche (surround sound more specifically), so I got $50 a month for that kind of website and traffic.

Now, I don't know what the prices are nowadays but... for 2k organic visitors a day I would charge $200 per month easily... maybe even more than that

I would suggest that you come up with a media package.

Basically, they would lay out the demographics of your traffic, how your traffic behaves, what kind of content they look for, and other details.

This is the kind of information media buyers look at to eyeball a starting rate for their media buy on your website.

At the end of the day, if you're able to deliver consistent traffic and those visitors behave the way the advertiser expects, you will be in a position to demand higher ad rates.

But, at this stage in the game, you should focus more on closing the advertising deal and let your traffic prove itself.

The key here, of course, is organic traffic.

If you're doing something to artificially manipulate your traffic numbers, that's a completely different conversation.

I'm talking only about real, organic, non-software-based traffic.

I totally agree with you

Banners are not the most profitable, but with that amount of traffic, you could easily charge $500-$1000 a month for a good placement, like leaderboard banners. If you don't have others advertising there, you should take the lower price, others will come.

What I've noticed usually happens is that competitors follow each other, so it is likely that more will follow so you need to have advertising options available.

Create a media pack.
That means all your products and services with prices listed as well as some website stats - demographics, daily visits, geo, etc.
Make it look professional.

There is nothing like being too desperate in growing your business. I’d do the same if I was in your shoes.
Lastly, Google should be your friend in helping you find potential customers.
Reverse engineer the person that contacted you already. Now go and contact similar audience.

Simply approaching them will seem either spammy or desperate.
Make connections with PR agencies who (probably) reach out to you to publish their press releases or thought leadership articles. Media buying agencies will follow.
