Well, this definitely was an interesting day.

I use Fiverr as an extra source of income (10-20 orders/day). Not bad, although the work was overwhelming - earnings were minimal, I don't even know why I put so much effort on the services I provided there.

Anyway, Fiverr had been good to me, I was ranking for keywords like backlinks, traffic etc.. My Gigs were in the first page and I was getting a lot of orders. A lot of repeat customers too.

Yesterday.. I decided that I was going to try and upsell and upload text documents promoting my website. So I go ahead and do it, and upon deliveries, I would include my details and my website details and other "exclusive" packages I provide outside of Fiverr.

I got a few external orders and go figure I get a message from this Law Firm in New York asking me to call them and ask for (Joel). I did a little research, and I was surprised to see this guy the owner of the firm, it turns out the firm was actually pretty reputable. This kinda made me nervous.

Anyway, I live on the west coast and decided to call him. He was busy, his receptionist told me to call back. So I did, still busy. Then I did again. Still busy...

I was about to give up, but eh.. I had been up all day literally for 24 hours without sleep and called him after another hour wait.

The receptionist told me he was waiting for my call. So we got to talking and he said he was impressed about the work and results I got for one of his sites from one of my "external Gigs" that wasn't on Fiverr and wanted to pay me 900/month to manage 2 medium competition keywords. So I sent him and e mail with all the payment details and next thing you know I'm up 900$/month!

but.... that's not the end of it.. Go to post #6 for the bad news :(

Sorry, continuing on.. (BHW wouldn't let me finish my post).

So I go back to Fiverr, pretty excited that I just made a 900$/month client. I try logging in and it tells me my account is disabled/banned. I had all these reports that I was ready to send out to my buyers, and boom, just like that my account gets disabled.

Anyway, I thought it would be a funny story to share.

    Lessons:
    Business is all about risk
Don't give up - I'm sure you all know that
    Don't be afraid to call

You can make another Fiverr account, but you can't just get a new client that easily. I'd say it was worth it.

Haha yeah, I wouldn't say I am really at a loss but definitely killed my mood. Was about to crack open a beer too! Now I have to make a new Fiverr account and start building up another reputation/account.

    Oh well.

    That's internet marketing for ya!

Oh yeah, so I forgot to mention that Fiverr is really strict when it comes down to giving away contact details. If you get one person (asshole) to report you, you can say good bye to your account.

So incase I'm getting paranoid here.

Are the two events dependent on each other? Should we be wary of lawyers calling us and giving us work? If this is not the case, then get rid of fiverr. If the lawyer was genuine then you have a good deal. you don't really need fiverr.

However, if it was a trap for you..it worked very well.

Well no, they weren't tied together. I'm sure it was another person that reported me, who knows. But Joel is still my client, so things are going okay I'd say.

Fiverr was a good source of income no doubt and it took a year to build up the traffic to my Gigs, and now it's all gone. Not a problem though, I'm not gonna mourn about it. Just gotta get back on that bicycle! :D

It has to do with your attachments that you were sending your clients.Fiverr scans the documents. recently 3 people I know did the same. they tried to advertise in there attachments and there accounts were gone.

Intersting, I've had a small message inside my attachement which is not a .txt document but now I might change my upsell message, potentially to an image and have that in the file.

Refer them to your website for samples after they purchase a gig or something. That's what I do for my fiverr article writing and i get a few external orders.

I don't understand, why would they want samples from you after they have bought articles from you?
