you need a mixed of no follow and follow backlinks to look "natural" to google. so even it is no-follow, it's still kind of worth it

Wikis are nofollow but better authorities than blogs and article directories. They are contextual. So your week is not totally wasted. Back the wiki backlinks with profile and pingbacks and you will get good results.

Basically what the others have said. Diversification is more important than ever and I actually believe that these days your do-follow to no-follow ratio should be very low. Considering that most sites out there are no follow these days it only makes sense.

Though what always bothered me with that reasoning is...well reputable, authority sites when linking back to someone site usually ARE do-follow so having a lot of do-follows is a double-edged sword. It comes down to whether you believe that Google's algorithm can successfully detect which sites are authority and high quality even if they're not extremely popular or not.

I personally do a mix of high powered do-follows and a few nofollows that look like they're quality (good content) and the other are just random links (also no-follow).

When a link is deemed "No-Follow" the only thing it effects is the PR passed from a link which I personally don't care about as a lot of times a low PR site can easily outrank a high PR site. I can and have ranked multiple sites to #1 with just "No-Follow" links and many others have done the same. Going for just Do-Follow Links not only leaves a pretty obvious foot print, but also leaves a lot of Ranking Power on the table.

Wiki links are good for diversity. Most of them are no-follow, but there are a few do follow. In any case no-follow means that the link will not pass link juice, PR and anchor text to the linked site. It will count as a link, but it will have the effect of a raw link from PR 0 site :)

I've seen cases where Wikis do help to improve ranks by diversifying ones backlink profile. Other than that, my only purpose for using them is to help expedite the crawl/index of do follow backlinks which are tiered.

Wikipedia is a no-follow wiki. Think it's useless if you get a backlink there?

It is always advisable to create the mixture of do-follow and nofollow links. Nofollow are must when it comes to the link building.

I dont care about nofollow that much, wiki sites are authority sites - its increasing the amount of backlinks, the trust and diversification of my backlink profile. Since Wikipedia links bring good ranking results and are nofolllow its not about the ******** its about the authority. Quality backlinks aren't need do be ********.

You probably never look too much on the pages where you post. 95% of all pages based on Wiki platforms are full of crap and spam, due to the incredible easiness and cheap bots to post there. Wiki sites are as far from authority sites as they only can be!

The wiki provides so many information that can not be found anywhere else. So do not be upset about that you wasted your time.
