I am from the Pearl of the orient sea Your country always try to steal one of our island hehe (just joking)
This is such a Finnish response btw ... never braggadocious and always taking compliments as a slight possibility. You'll almost never hear a Finn say "yes, we're awesome". Swoon
I don't know if that has changed during years, I think bragging about yourself used to be looked down upon. Like if you're awesome, why are you making noise about it. Others should be doing it and you should be humble about it lol.
Once again, the times are against us who were raised before the internet. Do you know how hard it is to look job when you're expected to compliment yourself? The interviewer asks you can you do something and you say "I've seen people who do it worse".
Lol... I know. I have real life Finnish friends. I always say to them the Canadian team will kick their ass and they always reply with some Finnish "oh, we will see...it will be a good game either way". And if Canada losses, they never gloat and I always make deal out of it.
One friend is a really good friend, Petri...smart guy. I tell all the time how awesome he is. He says, "Oh, you don't know. We all have our good days and bad days". The guy is legitimately a genius and has helped me out a lot but he can barely take a thank you. Canadians are the golden retrievers of the world. We want everyone to like us and we are way too friendly. Finns are like the Great Pyrenees...very quiet, like to be in the cold, like to just watch things as they happen but if there's any trouble, they are quick and capable.
But now, you have all this bs coming into your country. These foreigners changing Finland and everything is becoming all "me-centered" and all about promoting yourself. I hate it. I'm not Finnish but I want Finns to stay Finns.
I am a complete Finnophile. I'm in love with your people.
I think that is more way of the world, being me-centered, and people are just catching up here. There is always people that want attention, even here.
We are a small country with little people and lots of land. Think things will stay the same with immigrants if it's handled correctly.
Your friend sounds like a cool guy with good sports spirit. With hockey there is all kinds here.
Modern-day moonshine stuff?Another one from Scotland, always complaining about the bloody cold. It was snowing here this morning and tbh I'm fed up of the snow now.
Oh, and in my 9-5 job I'm a scientist where I can be found using expensive pieces of kit seen in the photo below and analysing and reporting the results.
That one below isn't mine, I'd never let mine get into that mess with all those tubes.
