I just bought a PR6 expired domain and I installed Wordpress.

What do I do to keep the PR6 by properly handling the inbound links that will now register as not going to any existing page?

Do I create 1,800 pages that match the inbound link URL or do I setup some kind of SEO friendly redirect?

    Ahrefs.com says:

    URL
    Rank: 11
    Ahrefs
    Domain Rank: 48

    Backlinks: 1.5 K
    Referring
    Domains: 121

Note: I just looked further into Ahrefs and it appears that the top links are all kinds of Wikipedia links into deep pages and long URLS... Should I pay for the Ahrefs account and find all the links and re-create them before they disapear?

if you are using wordpress i guess there is a plugin that helps you redirect all the 404 pages to the homepage so you can keep the linkjuice of the backlinks , im not sure if it's useful or not :)

install the plugins like the user above said or check the web archive to rebuild the pages no need to pay for ahrefs imo

Pull the old content off of archive.org and upload. Change the pages after a few weeks and check your rankings.

The 1.5K back links will not be to 1.5K individual pages - they will most likely be to just a handful of pages. Either ways creating 1.5K pages for them seem like too much work.

In my opinion, what you need to do is simply get the top links using Ahrefs and Majestic Seo (sort by authority) and build pages/posts for these. If you are unable to get the url structure exactly the same (most likely scenario), you can use a redirect plugin (e.g. Quick Page/Post Redirect Plugin) to redirect individual urls to your posts. Use wayback archive content for these posts only if you are sure that there are no trademark/copyright issues. (I generally don't use wayback content even though it is appealing to do so)

A simple 404 redirect to your homepage is not going to give you much benefit. Google knows when a page is not there and will not pass the benefit of the link to the redirected homepage. If you have some analytics installed, over time you will be notified of any 404 pages (links that you have not built content for). You can then redirect those links to an existing page or create a new page for them. For the time being no need to worry about all the pages - only the ones with the most valuable links to them.

my guess is i need to make useful and similar pages with similar content for the wikipedia links because they are edited and if they don't match they will be removed... they are listed as the top links on Ahref (they are displayed first so I assume this means they are the most important)... for the rest I'll just install a "keep link juice" type plugin... which is the best one?

There's an Apache directive called RedirectMatch

    You do this in .htaccess

    RedirectMatch 301 /directorythatmatches/.+ /

    OR

    RedirectMatch 301 /individual/article.html /

OR simply Redirect if you don't need a regex.

Domain/page authority...go to opensiteexplorer.com and enter your domain there and it will tell you your domains authority....but PR 6 for $50 is either a steal or scam
