I have a HP Pavillion DV6000 which has Windows Vista installed on it. I was using dialup on this laptop moving at a snails pace so I switched over to highspeed 3.0mbps that is when the problems started..

Before on dialup websites loaded slow but everything stayed at a smooth download rate.. webpages loaded fine no errors or nothing. Now today I get a modem hooked up to it with 3.0mbps speed, I downloaded utorrent to test my download speeds.. cool things are downloading 300kb-350kb a second so I head to my living room and come back things are at 9kb a second after about 3 minutes time. My speeds keep jumping up & download it is not steady at all im not sure whats going on here, not only that but the laptop keeps freezing up turning the mouse into a waiting icon for periods of time. Not only that but i cant switch over programs at all everything just keeps freezing and not responding after a min or 2 it will stop and goto the destination. I never had not responding issues before & i used to have utorrent so I dont think thats the problem. I ran CCleaner but that did not help not sure what to do I went from happy to sad in a matter of seconds.. anyone else ever experience problems like this or know how to solve them? here is a shot of my download speed tracker on utorrent. Also torrent has tons of seeders popular item.

Have you tried booting into safe mode with networking? By the way 32-bit or 64-bit Vista?

downolad system mechanic 30day trail that will sort it out.. if not
then you have to do a process of elimination for example disconnect
you broadband connection and see if you have the same problem

Sounds like your system resources are being overworked. Close uTorent, then you will reboot your PC. But before that, make sure it's not set to automatically load upon system restart . Also, make sure that no other programs are loading up on startup unless they are really needed.

As mentioned above, System Mechanic will help you to get rid of resource hogging programs.

If you have a lot of programs running in the background, you might need more memory. Check to make sure that you have enough.

I hope this helps. Let us know how it turns out.

it seems all the freezing is happening because of utorrent.. i ran some seperate downloads using a regular download manager everything went smoothly. took the advice & downloaded system mechanic 277 registry errors & 9 security vulnerabilities holy ******** running the scan now hopefully that will fix everything with utorrent acting up. my system resources are good i try to keep the running programs to a minimal even bg ones. thanks for the help any other advice is appreciated.
