So I just spent WAY more on a domain than I ever have before, solely because of the fact I get a big check tomorrow. I looked at backlinks, age, etc and its in a niche that I know a lot of in people locally that I could unload it if I need to. It has 2400 pages in G right now, so do I immediately put WP on it and 301 everything to the home page? Is that your first step? It seems obvious, but I don't want to f'up anything I might get for free.

What do you mean? Did you buy a domain, or a an entire website? Does the website use a CMS? What are you attempting to do? :)

Expired domain ? go to the web archive and grab all those old indexed articles/pages and get them up while you are thinking of a masterplan.

If you 301 redirect all of the pages to main page eventually google will take the links out. Try to get as many file names as you can and create a file with the same name and some content, this way Google will not de-index your links

That is what I am doing all weekend, getting as many urls as I can, putting VERY spun but readable content on the pages and getting them ready for the second the transfer is complete, with a link to the urls of what my landing pages will be.
