    Hi all,
I just bought an old domain, with high TF/CF/DA/PA.
What I am going to do is replace the old wordpress theme with a new one, and delete all the old content and start writing new content. Does this hurt SEO?

    Thanks for any comment/suggestion.

What if he just redirect the domain from his domain provider to the new homepage ?

    Is that safe?

You need to figure out what to do with the links pointing at the site, perhaps rewrite the content but better? You can do as one person suggested and redirect the 404 pages. If you don't redirect or rewrite the content on the same URL, you'll lose the link juice built up by the former owner.

    Thanks for your reply :)
I do not mean to rewrite the content under the same URL. I plan to write brand new articles and delete all the old content.
Installation and activating the 404 plugin help, right?
    again, thanks for your suggestion.

I've never been a fan of that method, but it's a quick and dirty way to do it. It always seems shoddy to me, and to be honest, 404s are helpful and natural for a website. You also lose the relevancy of the links pointing to a page because nice, long tail anchor text now just gets dumped onto the homepage with all of the other long tail anchors.

Redirecting 404s is the easy way, if that's what you're looking for. You'd probably get more benefit from the hard way assuming the domain has a fair amount of links coming into the internal pages.

    Thanks for your reply:)
But what do you mean by "dirty"? I am going to build site based on white-hat approach, I do not actually want dirty way.

So you suggest not to delete the old content because this will decrease the relevancy of the site hurting SEO?

Eh, you'll still lose some of the relevancy. Having the anchor text "best treadmills" pointing at an article about the best treadmills is more valuable than having a 301 redirect from that link to your homepage which has articles about "fitness gear."

The loss may not be terrible for 1 link, but multiplied across hundreds of links and you're losing a fair amount of relevancy that could have otherwise been pointing at money pages.

"Quick and dirty" is an English saying. It just means that it works, but it's not the best way of doing something. I didn't mean to imply that it is a negative tactic, it just isn't the most elegant.
