I use my profile as a tool to keep up to date with people I consider knowledgable, as it lists all the recent posts from friends. So various people ask me to friend and that's cool, we're all friends here.

But then I log in and the only messages I see from my profile is YOU. And your posts are like 10 words max. And you post every 2 minutes. And they're all BS, rarely sharing any good information about anything. Sorry I've got to remove you. Doesn't mean we're not friends, I just don't like flipping through pages of BS posts to see the important stuff from other friends. :p

Sometimes I'll say "thanks" in a thread to bookmark it and to put it on all my other friend's lists so they can read it if thats the way they use their profile. But if all you have to contribute to discussions is saying thanks ... that's what the thanks button is for.

Yeap, same here, I use it as "follow" function.
 
Yeah I deleted about 20 randomers a few days ago for the very same reason.
 
Yeah its really annoying, when you also keep receiving a lot of small messages from your friends.

Says the guy who just signed up today, has 0 friends and 10 crap posts done within 1 minute of each other. BTW my neg reps sting bad for someone trying to spam their way into a nice account ... enjoy.

I don't want to be rude or defiant, but if we see his comment, it's not at all a spam comment. He made a generic comment, which may have come from his experience on social media websites. The more friends you have on FB or Twitter, the greater are shitty updates and comments. It's a common thing that firescape tried pointing out here. Moreover, it's lounge. Posts are not counted in lounge. I have gone through few other posts made by this guy and although they are amateurish, but far better than the ones generally made by noobs. I don't like taking sides, but since you neg repped him, so I am trying to just present you certain points.

Anyways, no disrespect to you. As you have already made up your mind, so it's highly unlikely that you'd agree to me. I hope I would not be trolled or neg-repped for presenting my opinion.
 
Hmm... from the perspective of an end user... I use that exactly for the same reason, i.e. to follow quality posts and to learn. Sort of like my own "RSS feed aggregator."

I don't always have great things to say, so if they start to "unfriend" me, then this no longer works for me.
 
I Had similar issue like couple of days ago
Friend of mine Thought we are done, because i Un friended him in my Facebook, but that was a mistake.
But Sometimes people do not see what you doing the same way you looking at it
 
FB has an option to stop following friends or display any of their updates on your wall, but still keep them as friends.

Exactly the solution to my concern above.

A nice feature to have here although it does make a forum too complicated as a forum :)

I wouldn't neg a well thought out post. I wouldn't neg a comment that is even as simple as "thanks". Wouldn't neg rep someone for just disagreeing with me. But when someone signs up and post at this rate ...

Somehow this guy both reads a thread and makes a thoughtful comment about it once every 1 minute 30 seconds? I don't come to BHW to read people's trashy posts because they want to escalate their post count, and its especially a slap in the face when he does it in a thread discussing low quality posts to begin with. And yeah this is the lounge, my guess is he was posting so fast he didn't stop to think he doesn't get credit for posting here, all the other posts aren't in lounge.
 
Nothing worse than unfriending someone and they keep trying to add you back! Some people can't take a hint.
