just another [JOURNEY] to 30$/day with a quizsite

Hey everyone!


I start this thread to see the progress, to keep me motivated and to collect knowledge for me and other bhw members.


About Myself

For several years now I have read a lot about online marketing and followed blogs etc but I have never actually tried to earn money online. So basically I am a total noob. Unfortunately I am very occupied with my job and family and I dont have that much time to work on my projects and english is not my mother tongue. But I really want to get a foothold in earning some money online. The target is 30$ daily because with this amount I could feed my family and pay for my rent.


What I Have Done So Far:

Website

• I bought the quizsite package from @se900se
• Changed the layout of the quizzes a little bit so that it looks more appealing(my opinion).
• added google analytics and optout option

Monetization:

modified the privacy policy and applied to adsense. I got approved after ~2 days.

I also applied for adblade and got accepted but they need me to fill out a W9 tax equivalent and my quick google search didnt give me any answer yet. I have not done any thing regarding this issue because I m already got approved by adsense but for diversification purposes I am planning to do so in the near future.


Ressources

• 13 published quizzes
• 3 unpublished quizzes
• ~7 reddit accounts
• 1 private facebook account
• 3 pinterest accounts
• 2 instagram accounts [53 follower and 5 follower]

Driving Traffic:

Reddit

I posted on a subreddit with 1.2mio followern. In the post I was asking for advice for a decision. To make the post not that spamy and more natural I also noted that I got x out of n points in this one quiz which was related to this topic and linked to my quizsite. I paid some people on rapidworkers to upvote my post and with my other reddit accounts I upvoted the post and commented it as well. For the upvoting I used different devices and networks. At the end the post didnt get any upvotes beside my votes and the bought ones. There were 15 different people commenting and giving me advice how to decide properly but no one clicked on the link and did the quiz. so this was a total failure.

The other redditpost I tried in smaller subreddits got all marked as spam immediately. I though its due to the links which were in the text so I tried another method creating post without any links to external website but these posts got marked as spam too.

So I checked all my accounts and there are not shadow banned or at least they show up when I check their profiles.

Facebook

Unfortunately all my facebook accounts which I created with different email addresses and different dates always get banned and I dont want to post with my private account.

I have not tried facebook ads yet but this is the next step.


Pinterest

I actually not sure how to use pinterest to drive traffic to my quizsite. I posted several pictures which were also used in the quizzes and linked them to the website but very low impressions(<100) and no clicks. Also the topics used in the quizzes are very oversaturated so thats probably also the reason why.


Instagram

I am really not into instagram personally but I made. One account is 6month old and has organically grown to 50+followers with high engagement the other one is 3 weeks old and has like 5 follower very low engagement. The problem here is that the content is not my content and I had to delete my last post because the actual creator wrote me which was very embarassing. In the future I think I will rather stay away from growing my on instagramaccounts and rather buy some shoot outs.



ToDo List

After my miserable attempts to drive traffic using social media I want to try facebook ads. So first I need good material used for the ads. Therefore I need to watch some gimp tutorials and create several ads for facebook ads. Why gimp? because its free and I lost my old photoshop license key. I use pictures from pixabay and other free stock image websites.


Outcome
visits = 0
impressions = 0
costs = ~200$
revenue = 0

Profit = 0

For Reddit use the front page services here costs around 40$ you’ll be able to drive loads of traffic, don’t spam the link on Facebook they’ll ban your account, use backlinks to Rank Higher In Google for more traffic

Hey good luck for your journey ! I create a quiz website journey too. Be careful with google adsense, I don't think he likes traffic from social networks too much, after a week of redirecting traffic through my accounts instagrams my ads have been limited. I advise you to warm up your google adsense account,
try to have a stable and growing traffic, take it easy at first!

Good luck with your journey! $30 a day in profit is very do-able. The great thing about quiz sites is that they're very scalable in terms of revenue, once you have 1-2 effective channels for driving traffic. Just one tip - whatever traffic sources you end up using, be mindful of traffic quality, and consider using a filtering tool. It minimises the risk of getting banned by Adsense.

Actually, i was on the way of starting something very simmilar in particular, but i've been denied by adsense like numerous times, firstly because of my content ( It was plagiats, only copied, so i fixed it, spun it a little and i have no plagiat content on my website currently)

Now i'm getting denied about some policies. How did u fix it? I have included About me,Terms and Conditions,DMCA,Privacy Policy,and Contact Us pages, but they still denied me because of the same policies reason.
Any idea maybe?

Thank you! I will maybe try this in the near future. Right now I already reached my budget limit and I have trouble writting post with a good call to action or at least nobody clicks on the link. If I know how the post has to look like so that people will like it and click on the link then I will try it out.

The problem here is that I really dont know much about Instagram. I actually dont like it and dont use it personally therefore I think I might miss some intuitive things one should or shouldnt do.

I am really not an expert but you should have a proper contact me page and ofcourse a privacy policy page. I used the one wordpress is providing and added some things for example some information about google analyitcs etc. I looked at other website on the web which have adsense and kind of copied it from there phrased it alittle bit different though and adapted it a little bit.

Thank you! Your Journey actually inspired me to try it myself! You are not the only one whos ads got limited. There was this british guy who ran into the same problem. Would you suggest to mix adblade and adsense ads? so that one banner for exampl on the left has adsenseads and the other one runs adblade ads?

small Update
I actually planned to use reddit and facebook but due to the constant spam flags in reddit and my new created facebookaccounts getting deleted I have to try out somethign differently.
Quora
I forgot that I have several accounts on quora. I wrote two answers to questions which were related to my quizzes. A few views(total of ~40 view) but not clicks. I wrote an answer to a question related to quiz sites and upvoted it with my accounts. A few views (~15 no clicks) I guess most of the views come actually from myself because I was constantly checking the viewcount.... All the questions were pretty old like 1-2years old.

Instagram
I posted some pictures and followed some profiles which liked my pictures and which seemed to be real people. now I have 13 follower and about 20 profile visits but still no click on the link in my bio. The average view of my insta post is
about 12 likes are about the half of the views....

What next
The next step will be to create facebook ads. create a few pictures with text. I also want to create some pictures used in the quiz with the question and upload it to pinterest maybe some people will click on it.

What really demotivates me is that I didnt get one single person(!) to go on my website. I dint think its gonna be easy and I expected low numbers but zero is just sad. Everytime I post something somewhrere I get exited to look at the stats the next day but then seeing the big fat zero feels like a punch in my guts.

Adsense don't really like social traffic so I advise you to get some SEO traffic, and yeah maybe you should start with some visitors to your site and then increase as you go along.

The problem is that I actually dont know where to start. How do you rank a quizsite? There are already established quizsites out there and the competition is pretty tough isnt it? Doestn thequiz.com and grizzly.com get their traffic mainly from facebook etc?

Can you please elaborate more on why Adsense doesn't like social traffic? In my experience, this couldn't be further from the truth.

I have 4 Adsense sites (quiz and quotes sites) with close to zero content and make good money out of them. All of them get only social traffic from FB, IG, and Pinterest - scheduled posts I set up once per month, and never had a problem with Adsense.

On the other note, I will post some traffic ideas later today when I find some free time

I once created a dynamic quiz website for a person who was earning good chunk with that. He was always creating quiz around some drama seasons. May be you can give it a try too.

and i think facebook ads are the best option to drive traffic to your Quiz site, people like crazy Questions and they like to answer , so i think you need to try fb ads.

I'm gonna buy the quiz pack too! Will be a really good add to my site as a sub domain.

It's a fantastic plugin!!

What I'm doing first is not posting all my quizzes until I figure out the best traffic sources. The best one I have so far is Twitter traffic ... I just bought a bunch of aged accounts and then used a basic bot on them.
1. One set of accounts I just had them follow everyone posting anything related to the niche and retweeting only tweets from certain niche related keywords (I change the keywords often)
2. The second set of accounts I had them retweet the accounts posting about the niche ( without any preference)

3. Finally I just scheduled all the accounts to tweet the Quiz page link every few hours ... I've seen a great increase in clicks on the link ... I'm using this method to grow the accounts before posting any more quizzes

Unfortunately, no free tools that I know of. Most are quite expensive, as the system requires constant updating. I think there might be a few Wordpress plugins that offer something basic. Might be worth looking into.

That is not so, AdSense loves social media traffic. Some publishers prefer social media and paid traffic to SEO as you can 'program' that traffic and behavior while SEO is something unpredictable and unstable.

Maybe it's just me but I ended up with limited ads (only social traffic) but I found several people talking about it on the adsense forum. Maybe my traffic is not "quality" as it comes from humor account with a majority of 16-25 years old
