What kinds of BH activities can land someone in jail do you think?

Recently there was the case US vs Lowson which nearly ended up declaring terms of service violations illegal. Like, criminally illegal. And then the can just go and seize every domain?

I'm worried about the US government's increasingly strong grip on everyone and everything. How long until they make wordpress comment spam illegal?

What do yall think? What kinds of things can land someone in jail here?

You are more apt to end up in a CIVIL lawsuit rather than jail

Fraud is a good way to be arrested. For some reason A LOT of people confuse Fraud and Black Hat Stuff.

Fraud, but as for being prosecuted, convicted and then sentenced to jail it depends on what you're doing.

A good rule of thumb is that if you think what you're doing is illegal you probably shouldn't do it; you'll score more karma points and sleep better at night even if it is legal.

I think that as long as you don't confuse the 'SEO' and 'hacking' types of black hat then you'll be fine. I haven't seen many methods that would land you in jail, but that may very well be because they're just well-kept secrets.

    Crap. Go Pack go

But anyways, I am worried about that US v Lowson case. Apparently the guys were tried because the court wanted to see if breaking a sites TOS was criminal.

Or captcha breaking for that matter, which is bullshit. Those kind of things that just about every BHer does.

I've been charged with tax evasion and evasion of customs duty, the latter resulting in a conviction. One of the reasons I kind of dropped off BHW a couple years back...

Basically, I'm a dual citizen (US - Russia) and I move assets around frequently...I try not to break major laws, but sometimes the government just wants to fuck with you.

So to answer your question, not giving the government a huge cut of your hard earned money can land you in jail in America.

The U.S. is the only country in the world that taxes its citizens on worldwide income even if they live in another country and the money is made in that country. That's why once I get proof of Irish citizenship and move to Romania,I'm giving up my american citizenship . I'd rather only get to stay 90 days out of 180 days in the U.S. then get my money taken.
