I am not really very good at this kind of stuff but I felt like making a quick post. A while back I was at that point where I just wanted to give up on IM. I was making money but not really enough to support myself and it was really starting to bother me. I had been working so hard for about two years and continuously failed. I tried social media marketing mostly but just kept failing. No matter how bad it got I just got right back up and kept working. I put so many hours into IM that it had almost taken over my life.

About three months ago I decided to make a change. I basically dropped all of my other projects and began a new project from scratch. I had never done SEO before but I decided to start a brand new website and was inspired by a thread on here. It took me a TON of reading and testing but I finally got the concept of doing on site and off site SEO. It has been three months today and although my keywords are still in progress of ranking and I have not made any money yet. I have been seeing some awesome improvement in the SERPS these past couple of days. I am starting to become excited at the thought of making some good money soon.

So what was the point of this thread? Well basically I just want to inspire all of you to keep doing what you are doing. Giving up might seem like the right idea sometimes but you just have to keep working. Most of all I really want to thank this amazing community for helping me.

    Cheers Guys!

I have a blog I forgot about that I want to start back up again. The SEO is shot and there are way too many plugins on it. I've got to totally revamp the design and add some actual SEO. It actually ranks high for some keywords but I wanted it to be something that I could make money off of. I walked away from it a few months ago but being on this forum and reading threads made me want to get back to it.

Sometimes I wish I could bake everyone on here cookies :) Mint chocolate chip or peanut butter. Or brownies. Or mint chocolate chip peanut butter brownies.

    ...Now I want brownies.

Great to hear that you didn't leave IM! The main problem I (and many others) have is the self-discipline during the months a project you're working on doesn't bring in any money. But as soon as it does it will all just be worth it. This is something that really comes with practice of running your IM business like a real business.

Too many hours of my working time have been spent on Facebook, Netflix, etc. which I try to cut down on. Hence, I was just about to publish a few articles but I decided I'd play Tetris for 1 hour... Wtf. Anyhow, glad to hear that you're motivated again. Keep on working hard and everything will pay off.

A quote from Pat Flynn I personally love is: "Work hard now so you can sit back and reap the benefits later" it just pin points the SEO game (unless you're into some damn competitive stuff). Don't be shy to start a few more sites at the same time, SEO is often a waiting game so you should be able to have a few projects running at the same time. :)

The key is patience...AND focus... I was in the same boat. Fledgling my way along, trying, failing, and learning. Then I read a thread here that really inspired me. That caused me to scrap all of my hodge-podge attempts, focus on one thing, and I have been netting over 1K every month after about 4 months of focus (going on several months now) and my keywords are just getting started as far as ranking is concerned. All I did was focus on decent content, day in and day out, and now I have approximately 1.4 Million words of unique content thats also of decent quality. The amount of keywords I am ranking for has been rising steadily and, after I conduct my off-site campaigns (which I have really just begun), I expect to rank for hundreds of thousands of keywords. You just have to be focused and committed. Don't let the early struggles discourage you and you will succeed..

Awesome. Seriously though, you have to be patient and focused. Know that the work you put in is going to pay off and it will do so for a long time. Keep your head right and you will be golden!

Good job, glad to hear that you didn't give up and actually kept working. Remember:

Quitters never win and winners never quit

Keep up the great work and don't let anything demotivate you, with IM, the sky is the limit. There is an incredible amount of various methods to make money.

What I have seen is that many people are talking about how they can see their ranking go up etc.. But what they are forgetting is that ranks going up won't make them money.. visitors that arrive to their website will make them money. After I understood that logic, I started working more to get more money and I focused less on SERPs. No, I did not stop checking them from time to time because they are indications to show that whatever your are doing is working or not. But that's not the important thing.. if you are not getting visitors or your visitors are not converting.. that's a bigger problem.

So my suggestion here is try to focus a bit more on conversions rather than watching your ranks whole day. If you are already focusing on it, great.. if not then you should start doing it.

Yeah I understand what you mean. I have a bad habit of checking my rankings like 10 or so times a day. i should probably just keep focusing on content more.

This is my first authority site so it is going to have a lot of trial and error. When I start getting more visits to my site I will be able to check the conversion rates.

    Thanks for the advice man!
