    Hey Guys,

Allright here's the deal. I recently put up 5 feeder blogs (45 days ago) with some great unique content etc. within my theme. About 14 days ago, I tested their link power out by linking from all 5 to my money site with the exact same anchor text. Within a few days the site jumped 56 spots in the ranking all the way up to #8 on G. It stayed there for about a week. After one week, it dropped way down, about 80 spots. It's stayed there now for one week.

I am wondering if we just got penalized. I cant imagine this is the case, because if it were, how easy it would be for someone to screw their competitor.

I am wondering if I should try a different approach or if anyone has any comments about what happened.

    Thanks,

    Lakers

That's just how Google rank websites nowadays. The key to stay on top is to constantly add backlinks to your site. If you're not popular in the web than Google won't like you.

thanks guys - but the money site is old (2005), and its also been ranking well for other related terms for several years with G. Those other terms havnt seen any decline in rankings. Only this one particlular term.

    any other thoughts?

tons of unique copyscape passed content. actually consistently adding about 5 posts per month now on each, after making an initial 30 posts to start on each.

Whenever there is a major change in content or backlinks the site always drops...then comes back in about a week or so.

Whenever we run backlinks to a site I always tell people to expect their site to drop several positions then It returns higher than it was before.

    That's what's going on.

Yeah I had the same problem on w real high competitive keyword. My site is PR5 and a few weeks ago I got it onto the 1st page then it dropped 500 spots now up to #66. I'm hoping it goes back up but it's been about 2 weeks now.
