One thing I have learned in the 42 years I have been on this planet:

Work is work. No matter what job you have.

I have worked a number of jobs from working at the mall when I was a teen, to selling on ebay, to Corporate America, to my own business. No matter what, all of them were work.

Even though I was head over heels in love with ebay, I still had to pay fees and I HATED that. That was such a buzz-kill. I also always had to make sure customers were satisfied. Otherwise, I would get negative feedback and that kinda induced a little bit of anxiety every time I would ship an item. So even though I was having the time of my life and making lots of money, there were still drawbacks to the job.

I learned that just like dating, marriage, and relationships:

Nothing is perfect. No job or career is perfect.

That was a hard pill for me to swallow because I like everything to be perfect and pretty, with a candle and a chandelier hanging over my head, while laying on a chaise lounge. This is me:

Lol. That's how I want things to look all the time. But the time came where I could not keep up with that anymore. I had to take that chiffon gown off, take those heels off, put on my work boots, roll up my sleeves, and get out there in the mud and pig poo if I really wanted to make this career work.

Then about 6 years ago, one of my favorite bloggers said something very powerful that helped me tremendously. She said:

Choose your love, and love your choice.

That advice FORCED me to finally PICK SOMETHING to do and STICK WITH IT.

Like you OP, I was not making a decision on anything. I was just "dating" every career I met. Never settling down. Never getting married. Never having a baby. But time was passing. I knew I needed to chose something if wanted to "settle down and get married and have children", but didn't know what to choose. And I honestly think I didn't know how to choose.

This blogger taught me that everything has flaws. Nothing in this world is flawless. Not even myself. If I really want to get where I want to be, I have to choose something, and decide to love it and see it all the way through, regardless if it has flaws. It's ok if something is flawed. If a broke down, beat up, out of style, Pinto station wagon from 1977 is getting me across the finish line, then so be it. Let's ride:

Just put some music on in the car and everything will be fine. It doesn't have to be a 2020 Phantom Rolls Royce. The world is not going to end just because my career does not have all the perks I want. No career is going to give me everything I want. I learned it was ok to accept and love something even though it didn't have everything I wanted.

When you are young and in your 20's you are very picky about who you date and marry. You want "rich, tall, dark, and handsome" or "blonde hair, green eyes, big boobs, and a tight a$$".

But when you get to your 40's and you are still single, you become less picky because you no longer have the energy to chase that kind of ideal mate. You end up choosing "nice, stable, and effective" because you no longer care so much about what the person looks like. Now you are just looking for a peaceful relationship that WORKS.

It sounds like this is where you are in your career OP. You said you are 24 years old in real life, but in your career life, you may actually be 40 or 50 years old - looking for marriage. Does that make sense? Lucky for you, there are lots of women out there waiting for a proposal. Here are a few that I know of:

    1. SEO
    2. Link Building
    3. Amazon
    4. Website Design

Choose ONE and put a ring on it. Website Design is nice and stable. Choose her. Keep her, and ride it out till you both die.

I'm sorry, but I had the easiest job in the world before leaving to pursue IM.

I was a maintenance engineer for a pretty big UK company, and I sat on my arse for 12 hours a day getting paid pretty well for it.

IM is hard, but I'm at home so I'm happy. :)
