@Zwielicht I know it’s not really my place to ask but are you a BHW mod full time? As in, you get paid to do it?

With all the work you do to make BHW so awesome I couldn’t imagine you having a separate job.

Well, we were going to do this but we decided it'd be cheaper and more efficient to just integrate him into the BHW mainframe. You might think he's just one person but as well as the BHW stuff, he's actually the entire North American branch of Anonymous too.

We're working on a hard light hologram for November though, otherwise it's going to be hard to do all his Vegas list in a server box.

All that drama, and you are located 250 miles from Vegas?

You don’t need a VISA, you dont need to take a flight you can just jump in your car and drive there, you are not going to a country you never been to, you are going to one of the most interesting cities in the world that happens to be in your state (?), you dont have kids (I guess), you don’t have to fly to other continent.

Since you are moderator, you are basically attending BHW team building event.

I like you Skyrocket, so I'm not going to be snarky with you.

However, I will say that you got a few things wrong about me in your post. I don't live in Nevada and I have my reasons for not being able to go the last couple of years, reasons that made it very difficult for me to just be able to jump in my car and drive there. As for the child thing, that one's a little more complicated; it's not a biological or step-parent thing, but more of a "role" I found myself in 7 years ago. I'd really rather not go into more detail about any of this, though.

Still, these aren't so much issues now, so you're right about it not really being a huge hassle for me to get there now as it would be for someone in, let's say, India.

I feel like I've mentioned all of this in the thread already, but my apologies though if this thread came off as melodramatic.
Anyway Skyrocket, I hope everything's been going all right for you. Let me know if you ever want anything added to your avatar again, if you know what I mean. ;)

He's amazing... literally he does more work in a day than is possible in a 24 hour period and does it in a way that should I use the word spectacular I would be understating his contributions to the forum. I'm pretty sure he time warps to get things done he does so much.

You see some of what he does but most of the staff sees a lot more of the work he does behind the scenes and if you saw what we see you would be Googleing, @Zwielicht Paypal Account, and sending him a 6 figure check every month.

Deep in the Venetian, there is a place called Black Tap Burgers and Beer. When we were in Vegas (first time for me, mind you) in May, we walked in the heat from the Stratosphere Tower to the Venetian. We then sat down in this small, dark restaurant and paid $17 each for milkshakes. It was more than worth it. If you've got no dairy issues, I highly suggest Black Tap... but maybe not after a long walk in 100+ degree heat.

Also, if you get the chance to walk Fremont Street, do so.

I'll be there in Vegas. Been lurking here so long, its about time to see what's really going on in 2018.

Regarding the costs: Las Vegas has developed highly efficient systems for parting fools from their money. Flights and hotels are typically cheap, and you can get some great deals buying packages with the concierge on entertainment etc., but the 'retail' price of everything on the strip is ridiculous!

You'll pay $18 for a strong cocktail at the casino bar, but if you go sit down at the penny slots for 10 minutes, a waitress will bring you the same drink for free. And the legendary breakfast buffet at Ceasar's cost $60 to enter, but if you are a hotel guest and go early bird, you can do it for half that. Don't even get me started on the cost of nightclubbing if you aren't traveling with a big group of girls.

The point is that you just got to dodge the obvious tourist trap bullshit. Its sounds easy, but after partying for a few days (or hours) your guard goes down and you tend to adopt the whole 'fuck it, we're in Vegas!' attitude that is coming at you from every direction.

    I figured about:
    Flight: $250
    Hotel: $120 - $150 x 4 nights
$500 - $1,000 for drinking, food, entertainment etc. - depending on how much fun I am having and how loose the conference is with the drink tokens :)

So with the cost of the conference ticket that's about $2-2.5k? I hear that all IMers are rich so that should be easy to budget :D
