Hey Guys! This is my first documented journey, but I’ve built an amazon/display ads monetized website before to moderate success. I need your help staying accountable.

The ones I’ve built in the past were smaller websites and were a little too niched. Also, to be frank I lost the drive to give them the attention they needed. I still own these websites and they have potential and have plans to give them more TLC, but they’re not my immediate concern.

About Me: I’m in my thirties with a wife and 2 kids. My whole career has been in SEO up until recently but what I’m doing now is still heavily in the digital marketing space.

Why Now? I know I can do this and make money with it as I’ve done it in the past. In years past I got sidetracked with freelance clients and my old websites got forgotten. I’ll take any client SEO work that comes my way but I’m kind of sick of relying on it as much as I do.

I just need everyone’s help in staying ACCOUNTABLE. We all know it can be done it’s just a matter of doing it.

So if I don’t update at least every week I need everyone to YELL AT ME! SHAME ME ON A PUBLIC FORUM

Site Background (7/18/2022)
  • Domain Bought – April 2022
  • First Article Published – Early June (Can’t remember exactly)
  • Articles Added – 19
  • Traffic – 2
  • Impressions ~1700
  • Ezoic will be set up in the next couple weeks - not a lot of traffic so it's not a priority at the moment

Plan (as of 7/18/2022)
  • Publish 40 articles a month
  • Outsource content writing and eventually editing
  • Make money through ads and affiliates eventually (not sure how well my niche lends to affiliate offers beyond Amazon but that will be part of the testing process)
  • Avoiding link building – depending on how performance looks in 6 months to a year I may just not do any intentional link building
  • Blitz initially to get as much content as possible up and then double back and focus on topical relevance for topics within the niche

Goals

-40 Articles/month

-200 articles by end of 2022
-800 articles by end of 2023

-Monthly Income (not super sure what is possible - thoughts?)
$1000 end of 2022
$5000 end of 2023

Good luck! IMO there is no way you will get to $1k till the end of the year. You'd be lucky to get to 3 figures in the first six months.

That's just how Google works as it needs time to validate and test your site during the first 6 months. After that, if you do everything right, you can expect exponential growth.

Adsense is the best for display ads. Why have you chosen Ezoic?

Ya, I figured as such. I had my goal to be $1000/month by December as a stretch goal. After that initial six months and really the first year I think that's where all of this will start to pay off.

Ezoic is an upgrade version of Adsense?
ya Ezoic an Adsense partner and uses Adsense in some of it's placements. I don't really know the ins and outs of it but if you Google comparisons everyone makes more money with Ezoic.

Good luck on your journey, you got this.

Well planned journey. Lets hope for the best. Looking for the future updates. Good Luck mate

Ok, but some people complain about their earnings on Ezoic. I wish you all the best on your journey.

following.
are your niche is not much competitive? because if it is competitive, it's will be very hard for ranking without link building to it.

I also just opened and started a niche website 3 weeks ago, on a very hard and competitive general niche, but it could be open to many different small sub-niches that I'm still exploring through keywords research.
There're already 4 articles posted and only 1 of them getting indexed lol.
Still figuring out how/where/which for budget friendly but quality outsourcing articles then will posting more and on regular basis like 2 posts a day. also for keyword research as well, it takes a hell lot of time

good luck to you and good luck to me :D.

No it's competitive for sure but I'm banking on topical relevance getting me over the hump. To be honest I've seen way more success in the niche focusing on topical relevance with my other sites and link building's effect is minimal. Maybe I'm not building the right links but I'd rather just spend money on content rather than links which 9 times out of 10 aren't great with Google.

I guess I'm not against link building but I do plan on selling this website sometime in the future and the more success you have with less link building the more desirable your site is because there's less risk. Links bring risk to an investor. If I do start link building I'll update on this journey.

Ya it sounds like your timeline is about the same as mine. Got my first article indexed about 3 weeks after posting it. Got a journey post to follow?
