    Hello BHW Friends,

First of all i want to make few things clear before i present my plan. My idea of starting this thread is to get suggestions and tips in completing my new journey. I have not set any monetary goals as of now. The basic idea is to make a site that consistently gets huge traffic no matter which Google update comes. I am not a pro at making sites but i am good with wordpress so thats what i will be using as my CMS.

Here is the basic plan and idea.

The site will be based on humor niche as i believe this is a niche that is ever green because in today's hectic routine everyone want a break and want to laugh on something so that the stress is released.

The site will mostly contain images, gifs but will also include some Jokes (text based). All images will be part of a post and will also contain some description which will be totally unique and will vary from 50-100 words.

I will try to post 20-30 posts per day and do good research in finding the top images which will make anyone laugh. I will resize, rename and even crop the images to make them unique to my site.

Each post will be shared on a FB page,Twitter account,Pinterest and Instagram.

Each picture will also be posted on top Social bookmarking sites like stumbleupon , reddit and Digg (multiple accounts will be used with proxies. I will use bookmarking demon and will also add some other RSS Feeds to make the accounts look natural.) (suggest a better way if you know any)

    Day 1 Tasks
    Install Wordpress
Find suitable theme and install it
    install following plugins
All in One SEO, WP- Super Cache , Google XML Sitemaps (please suggest more for better functionality)

I have already bought the domain which is about 6 months old already. its a 6 letter domain .com

Your suggestions will be highly appreciated. I would take this a case study rather than a Journey.

You should think about the monetization methods before creating a website
How would you get money form it?
I mean such a niche is not a top paid one

Though u can make good money with great streams of traffic

    Good luck in your journey!

Nice, it seems like you have a good starting plan. I'm also interested in seeing how this progresses, and which monetization method will work best for you in this niche.
Good luck and please keep updating!

Mak3r has a good point there isnt really a niche as such so not so easy to monetise.

That said if you can do 20 posts per day you will quickly build a social fanbase, and at that rate you should be able to get quite a lot of traffic too from shares etc

I wouldn't build a humour site on Wordpress to be honest. If it starts getting decent traffic then your server bill would be outrageous as WP is so slow and bulky.

Build it on a custom CMS. You'll appreciate in the long run.

Disclaimer: I have a humour site with 3m visits a month...

I may not use tumbler as it is being spammed right now by many so my idea is to be on safe side in all ways i can.

From the discussions above, i think i should spend some more time in researching for 2 things,
    1- Custom CMS
2- Monetization Method (i think adsense will work as i see adsense on top humor sites)

the update for now is that i will take this week to finalize on the above given questions.

As someone who's played around in this niche before, I just want to retouch on what's already been mentioned here. Monetizing this kind of site is going to be very limiting if you don't know what you're doing with your traffic. I think that if your only plans are to cash in from AdSense you're going to find yourself feeling like your effort isn't paying off at all. Managing 20-30 quality pictures a day is going to be more work than you think it is, and even if you do manage to pull a huge amount of traffic, it won't be very targeted.

You should also consider that there are some serious competitors already dominating the niche that you're not going to be able to contend with (*****, 9GAG), as well as a million other people trying to do exactly what you're doing. There are still ways I think you can pull this off successfully, but if you don't have anything that makes your site "special" in the sea of sites that are already doing this then you're in for a rough ride. I think you should target a specific audience and hit them with one kind of humor (video games, motherhood, etc.) so you can better monetize your site.

Think about it like this, if you have a site that is catering to everyone, who exactly is your audience? You may be pulling 20,000 views each month, but is it really worth it if you're only making $20? If you single out one kind of viewer and get targeted views, you have the potential to monetize your site in other ways. You could build a list from subscribers who you know you can reach with products or future projects; you can market products directly on your site to the audience you're getting views from. You might only be getting 5,000 views a month this way, but you're going to rank much faster for the targeted humor and you're going to be making a lot more money because of having an audience you know your way around.

Just my two cents; of course it's entirely possible you end up dominating the front page with the best site we've ever seen, but I think a more practical approach might be a better option. Good luck, hope you're successful with whichever path you choose!
