I'm creating this thread to document my progress, make myself accountable and execute-execute-execute.

I run a small 250 square feet men's clothing store in Bangalore (India). My business is 2 years old. I haven't made millions but it gives me roof on my head and food on my plate, and has served as a better alternative to a boring 9-5 job.

6 months ago, I invested almost all of my savings along with a small loan to open a second branch in a proper commercial location which houses all the big clothing brands. This was a bad idea. I lost all the money on the posh interiors, excessive overheads, rent etc, and while I was blinded by the bling bling of the second store, I completely ignored the first one. After months of gambling in this new venture, I didn't have enough cash to sustain further, so decided to close the second shop.

I was depressed for a couple of weeks, but somehow got myself back up and made up my mind that I'll make my first million from my small initial 250 square feet shop. I calculated the numbers and it doesn't look impossible.

A good thing about my business is that people love what I sell, because unlike other retailers in my city who are selling mass produced stuff, I sell high quality exclusive apparel made in small batches. 90% of my business runs on repeat customers, and I've had a decent retention rate so far.

I'm going to try some internet marketing techniques to increase foot traffic into my store. I learned these from the new friends I've made in the Blackhat community in Bangalore.

To start with, I've made fake profiles on facebook, joined all the local groups, and grew 5 profiles so far to 5000 friends each. All these friends are good quality targeted leads. I've used Social Toolkit (Free) to grow these accounts, but I'm going to buy Facedominator software very soon, as I plan to send individual messages to each of these friends. My goal is to have 40 profiles X 5000 friends by September this year.

I'm also using Gramboard Pro to target people based on location and hashtags.

I have a list of 1500+ whatsapp numbers of my existing customers that I have developed in the last two years. I'm working on a way to increase word of mouth marketing through my existing customers (any ideas?). Planning to buy a bulk whatsapp sender, to send new arrival updates to these customers + new prospects.

I resumed sales in my store on 25th June 2018. My goal is to have INR 1,00,00,000 in revenue by 25th June 2019. Wish me luck brothers and sisters :) So far I've made INR 94,750 till date. Just another INR 9,905,250 to go. Doesn't sound difficult at all now :)

Great Journey, man! Keep Working.

What you can do is you can ask your current customers to post a picture of the clothing they buy from you and tag your page in the post and in return, you give them a small discount. This way, you can build an online brand and people will start visiting your store if they like what you sell.

You can also run FB Ads and promote a discount so when your customers come to your store, show you the ad screenshot, you give them a discount. These people can become your recurring customers if they like what you sell.

Just focus on quality clothing rather than revenue (most sellers focus on revenue) and you will start creating good connections!

Great to hear, Would suggest using a few marketing strategies to gain more trust and reach -

1) Having an online store
2) Affiliation with existing clients
3) Brand awarenesss via more social networks like Instagram
4) Facebook ads to sell online

PM me your store address would love to visit at some point ;) @stepdub

That is a good motivation! I would suggest you to create online shop using woocommerce or shopify, then have social media on it to push. I think selling through Facebook profile is not as good as Facebook page or Instagram. Then have a youtube channel to review your shirt.

Good luck on your journey! This motivate me to start mine. Thank you!

Nice to know someone from namma Bengaluru is starting a journey. A bit of motivation here.

Where in Bengaluru is your store located? Would love to visit if near by my location.

Superb. I would be reading your updates as I wanted some insight on a offline business also. BTW, how much was total loss in second shop ?

Thanks. I lose approx INR 10 Lakhs. Rent was high at INR 50,000 per month, and we didn't have enough foot fall that a store on a high street expected. My mistake in choosing the location :)

THat amount is about $150k right ?
I wonder what your overhead is.

Approx 50,000 INR per month now.

Thanks Yogesh. Yes, I've always given top priority to quality. My store is one of the very few stores in the city that offers an "After Wash Guarantee" If there are any problems like shrinkage or print fading away after the first wash, I offer an exchange (T&C applied).

I'm going to try the FB ads and also ask existing customers to post photos on their profile and tag my page. Precious idea. Thank you so much.

That is awesome!! Best of luck in your journey!! On a side note, you have very impressive English skills!!
