    The inane justification story:

In the past half year or so I have been toying around with PBNs. Originally I only wanted to give my authority site some further boost. In the process, I stumbled over a nice keyword with much more potential than I had room for on my money site.

I got plenty of original images (my own) on the topic (just in case you might ask: it is not shriveled micro penis) and I call myself a decent writer. So I decided to turn a PBN into something I could bank on, meaning a niche site.
In the past 3 months, I have been creating content and curating pictures for the new project whenever there was some spare time (and there was not a lot). Today I decided to launch the project. As a means of motivation for myself, but also to give others the chance to learn from my inept mistakes, I decided to start yet another journey thread people will use to spam up their comment count. Here we go

    What do I have?
    - Roughly 20k words of content spread over 20 articles/pages; ideas for another 20k
    - 500 pictures to compliment the content
    - keywords and longtails
    - 5 aged web 2.0 accounts (3 months) with a bit of unique content; they all got aged social media accounts attached
    - Aged Twitter account for the main project with 519 followers
    - Aged Pinterest account with 555 followers
    - aged Facebook account I will not bother to use yet

    What do I plan?
My main keyword has ~800.000 monthly searches. Competition is only medium (medium for the volume!). I will monetize this website through AdSense and affiliate deals (and a bit of amazon). Will probably not be able to rank for the main keyword in the top 10 for the next year, but my tests have shown that ranking the various (and still good) longtails should be doable. Aiming for 500 US-Dollar per month at the end of one year.

Since I already got a small network in the niche, I will try to keep my expenses for any blackhat services to a minimum (we'll see). I'll be ordering a couple of links after I exhausted my own resources. Planning to do this in about 3 months.

Not planning to use any virtual assisence. We'll see if I change my mind about that. lol. In a way I just want to proof I can actually rank a new website from scatch.

    What I did today:

    1. Registered a domain and secured shared hosting. I hate researching this kind of stuff and decided for asmallorange.com. Mainly cuz they appeared on my facebook timeline and I thought that targeting that well couldn't be that bad, lol. Domain is privacy protected.
    2. Downloaded a silo theme from seodesignframework.com. it is probably as horrible as the rest for siloing. Since I am bad at analyzing code I shall never notice anyhow.
    3. Set up wordpress, the theme and the basic silo website
    4. Filled the website with the usual legal stuff
    5. Set up search console, google analytics
    6. connected my social media outlets with the new site and applied for business pinterest account
    7. fiddled around a bit with the design
    8. ordered a cheap logo design on fiverr (can get something neat later on)
    Further plans:
I will set up the category pages and posts in the next couple of day and optimize the already existing silos (as of now they are more or less plain text). I will schedule the pages to appear over the next couple of weeks. Guess setting up these pages will take the rest of the week.

Also really need to customize the design, but I guess this will take way longer than I want to.

I will also start social media automation for the aged accounts to increase my followings.

Also need to apply for adsense and affiliate deals, but that should be relatively easy as I already got accounts. Will probably postpone that for next week.

Also need to create pinterest images for each page/post. Doubt this will happen in the next 14 days. But I am in no hurry.

    Next update tomorrow. stay tuned.

Good luck! Seems like a good plan. I'm sure you got some competition for your main keyword with 800.000 searches?

Well of course there is competition - but as far as I can see, my content will be better. Also, like I said, there are like a million longtails and gonna work on these first.

    Update day 1:
Today was a busy day at work, so I only had an hour or two spare in the evening. This is what I managed to do today:
    - I finished work on the 4 silo sites (keyword optimization and inserting pictures)
    - Installed a sitemap plugin and submitted to google via search console
    - Installed a contact form plugin and finished the contact us website
    - wrote some more unique content (1,000 words) for the home page as I was not satisfied with the previous length of the text
    - edited the general layout of the website a bit (still not halfway through)
    - added social media buttons to the website (duh!)
    - idled way some time manually pinning crap to my account and clicking away all the "google pinbot" messages I got from some fellow blackhater.

    Things I will do tomorrow:
    - I will add more content to the site, though I will probably not publish it all right away, but rather schedule it for the next couple of days
    - I will add pinnable images to all silo pages (need to create them first though)
    - will fill the queue for my social media accounts (boardbooster and buffer); no bots yet
    - need to apply for google adsense, hope my website will be in shape to do so tomorrow.
    - need to add links to the pages. I got zero outbound links (or onsite links) so far. But don't want to screw things up so early either.

    The website in numbers:
    - money spent: $153,50
    - money earned: $0,00
    - visitors 1 (+1)
    - daily visitors 1 (+1)
    - twitter followers: 512 (-5)
    - Pinterest followers: 569 (+14)
(will add other stats as they become relevant)

    Update:
Okay didn't update the last few days because it's so hot here, there was the Brexit to profit from and so I really didn't get too much done. Or rather: I didn't get anything interesting done. Still, here is what I did:

    - I ordered another logo for the website (5 US fiverr gig)
    - I added 3 more pages (each 1000 to 1500 words) and 2 posts
    - did add some links to the existing content without damaging the silo structure
    - added 5 more unique articles to my web 2.0 properties (queued them) and did minimal social media for them
    - I did 5 manual comments on authority blogs within my rough niche per day

as of now only 3 urls are indexed. But obviously I should allow a bit more time :)

Things I need to do this weekend:
    - I will need some cheap seo packages for the web 2.0 properties (not sure which yet..sigh..)
    - still haven't applied for adsense, since the logo is not there and I feel the website looks cheap otherwise
    - totally forgot about Social Media; need to queue some stuff and start automation. Will do tomorrow.
    - need to start tracking keywords (have no configured it yet...)
    - will add more articles and pages (schedule for the next 3 weeks); Underestimated how long it takes to add them; also need to re-edit some of the pictures

    The website in numbers:
    - money spent: $153,50
    - money earned: $0,00
    - visitors 1 (+34)
    - daily visitors 32 (+31)
    - twitter followers: 587 (+10)
    - Pinterest followers: 569 (+18)

I really can't explain the steep visitors peak. I have done zero (expect one pinterest pin). It feels like ghost referral spam, but it isn't. GA tells me they are organic google search hits...weird. No time on site though.

As of now I will focus on organic traffic through google and pinterest.

As for linking: I already asked a couple of frinds in my network for some guest posts. Then I will have my web 2.0 properties. And will probably order some linking packages here.
My budget is pretty low (~5k), but I am fairly positive I will rank the long tails without much problems.

    Update:
"Damn" Brexit..sorta screwed up all my plans for the weekend. Again (I keep on repeating myself) I was not able to invest a lot of time into this project. Then again, that was clear from the start. This will always be just a side project (though, i am open for any suprises *lol*). So here is what I did.

    1. Bought a proxy for my social media automation. I decided to get one from www.highproxies.com because I am using them for other projects as well and never had any problems. $3.20 per month is okay, IMO
    2. set up massplaner with the proxy and started automation with very low & slow settings. for now just follow/unfollow. No liking, etc (Twitter + Pinterest; not gonna bother with other social channels for now)
    3. Scheduled one more page and one more post. Site consists of 9 pages and 2 posts now. 5 more are in the line (and 10 more I need to edit); Also started collecting a bit of material for a blog (but only got 3 posts with ~500 words)
    4. I created 5 images for pinterest. Need to insert them in the articles then and schedule them (using existing buffer licence).
    5. manually did some more commenting on popular blogs within my niche (doing 3-5 per day); so far 100 of them passed through (duuh..!)
Things planned for the upcoming week:
    1. Finish filling up the site with all the content I got and write 2 more blog posts
    2. Finish creating pinterest images for all sites and posts
    3. curating a bit content for my social media channels (Pinterest board only had ~300 pins; twitter only 100 tweets)
    4. order a link page for the web 2.0 properties
    5. schedule posts for the web 2.0 properties that include a link to my website
    6. insert the logo once it is done
    7. apply for adsense then

    Further outlook:
Right now I am still taking things slowly. I got a huge (1 month) vacation planned and my goal is to bring this project up to my standards before I leave. Not intending to do anything during that time (other that scheduled posts + some automated social media). Once I am back I will ramp up things. Everything will have aged a bit etc...which will hopefully proof benefical.
Right now my ranking is abysmal to non existent. Just getting random long-tail hits. But I don't care so much :)

    The website in numbers:
    - money spent: $156,70 (+3,20)
    - money earned: $0,00
    - visitors 67 (+2)
    - daily visitors 1 (-30)
    - twitter followers: 557 (-30)
    - Pinterest followers: 585 (+0) (as I am unfollowing)
    - index websites 6 (+3)

Traffic dropped again. I got no clue why it spiked in the first place. On Friday I had a bit of referral spam (need to properly exclude it). As I am not running on the -1 GA-property there is luckily not too much. So far I am actually expecting no traffic, as I am not promoting the website at all and google will still take a while to send traffic.

Never heard of them before either. Just googled for good silo themes, and since I found them I guess they must be doing something right. lol

Actually i really love how versatile the design is. Adjusting the design is a pain in the ass, though. You really need to have more than a basic understanding of webdesign. Generally speaking it is more like a framework for your design.
As for siloing: I feel like I can really make it work. Okay there is still a plain old footer and and normal menu. The theme allows for custom code though, so you could possibly put these in iframes or some other shit (which i personally don't think is needed at all).
The theme is, above all, quite fast though. Sadly they are not using visual composer but SDF Builder. It does it's job and has so many options that there is a only narrow gap between that and programming your own html/css, lol.

    Update:
Summer really is the best time of the year to get ill *sigh*. Still sitting all day at home actually gave me the opportunity to get some things done. Not as much as I hoped for this project, but I am in no hurry either. Here's what I have done today.

    • I wrote a long 1200 word post for a long tail today, edited and added 5 hq pictures to it and put it into my scheduling queue
    • I also managed to hack in one additional page (from the existing content). It's a super long list with random keywords (no idea how it will work out)
    • i finally managed to create 5 pinterest images I am more or less satisfied. Added one to my pinterest board (the rest are on scheduled posts, so not rdy for pinning yet)
    • I did some more manual comments (gosh it really gets boring reading all this shit content). So far all comments linking to my homepage (will diversify soon, but not much)
    • I also applied for a new logo on fiverr, as the first one I ordered got canceled cuz that vietnamese guy was not willing to work for 5 USD. Ah well...couldn't fault him..but then again why put in such a price in the first place
    • Did some manual following on the pinterest account but decided to switch to automation. Account is 3 Months old..should be okay
    • Did some manual tweeting and decided to stick to manual for now. For some reason i get weird ghosting when using buffer on new accounts *Shrug*
    • applied for business account on pinterest.
    Things still on my list:
    • got ideas for 3 more posts. Hopefully I can get this finished this weekend
    • need to hack in 5 more pages that are already finished
    • logo + Adsense
    • (blocked) twitter automation (due to concerns)
    • link package for web 2.0 properties. dunno which to pick, though. Any ideas?
    • Linking web 2.0 properties to website (will do this in one month)

    The website in numbers:
    - money spent: $156,70 (+/- 0)
    - money earned: $0,00
    - visitors 73 (+5)
    - daily visitors 3 (+2)
    - twitter followers: 628 (+71)
    - Pinterest followers: 583 (-2)

    - total published pages/posts 10
    - total scheduled pages/posts 6
    - index websites 8 (+2)

    Update:
Something really strange happened the other day. Originally this project was supposed to be a pbn for my authority site (no linking happened so far). One of the posts on my authority post is going organic search viral. I really got no clue what is happening. The long tail (which is a version of the keyword I am targeting with this website) has a monthly search volume of 800. Which is fair enough. Anyway. I am seeing daily traffic of 250 to 300 (time on site above 5 mins) to this keyword. Totally nuts. Not sure what is happening. Still it is a positive signal that this project might have a chance to get some serious traffic as well.

But on this website I am still seeing this ghost google traffic. Not sure what it is about. maybe a botched effort at referall spam? but why would the source me google/organic then?

Anyways - i got some word done. here is the list

    • I managed to write another post (only 750 words, though) and edit some pictures for it; scheduled it
    • created two more pinterest images
    • did more manual commenting on blogs
    • added some more boards and pins to my pinterest account
    • repinned some pins for this project with my other pinterest accounts - let's see and wait!
    • some manual tweeting
    • wasted too much time deciding for a link package for my web 2.0's, without results lol
    Things still on my list:
    • gotta finish 2 more posts
    • need to hack in 5 more pages that are already finished
    • logo + Adsense (geee..takes too much time with these cheap fiverr deals
    • link package for web 2.0 properties. dunno which to pick, though. Any ideas?
    • Linking web 2.0 properties to website (will do this in one month)

    The website in numbers:
    - money spent: $156,70 (+/- 0)
    - money earned: $0,00
    - visitors 111 (+38)
    - daily visitors 3 (+0)
    - twitter followers: 716 (+88)
    - Pinterest followers: 616 (+33)

    - total published pages/posts: 12
    - total scheduled pages/posts: 5
    - index websites 9 (+1)

    Questions:
Am not sure if I should stick to the silo structure. Hate the fact that there really is no way to navigate to the post pages from the home page *sigh* Maybe not a good idea...

    Update:
So it has been a month since I last updated this thread. Mainly because I was on vacation and had no chance to do anything. But that was all as planned as I wanted to let everything age a bit. Sadly that did not all run smoothly. All the twitter accounts for my web 2.0 projects got ghosted (not sure what I did wrong, it just happened *sigh*). Not the biggest problem, though.
Other than that not a lot of stuff happened. My scheduled posts all went online, but traffic to the website is still almost zero. Now that I returned, here is what I did:

    1. I created a logo for my website. Originally I wanted to outsource it on fiverr, but 3 (in numbers 3) sellers claimed some terminal illness so they wouldn't need to work on my 5 euro gig (felt tempted to report them all). My own logo looks a bit crap, the favicon okay. Guess I can always get a better logo later. For 99% of the visitors, the current one will be okay
    2. I applied and integrated affiliate links. Am not seeing any traffic right now, so I guess it is somewhat pointless - but better too early than too late. Can't hurt too much
    3. I also integrated Google Adsense today. Screws my so far very clean layout a bit, because so far I did not have a sidebar...but I am not doing this for the sake of a neat design ;-)
    4. I wrote and scheduled 4 new posts on my 4 aged web 2.0 properties. All containing links to my website. Not sure if I am creating a footprint here. Will have to write a couple of more. All posts range between 300 and 600 words
    5. I created 3 more pinnable images and pinned all the new posts that got published during my absence. Repinned these pins with my other bigger accounts within the niche to gain some traction. Scheduled a few to group boards to be dished out over the next couple of days. Let's see if that helps.
    6. I applied for some guestposts and am currently thinking about a link-exchange scheme
    7. schedules all new posts on twitter
    8. Integrated a blog into the website with 2 posts schedules (and one welcome to my blog post)
    Things planned:
    - that link package is still waiting. Still can't decide what to pick
    - will need to do a press release for the proper launch of the website
    - writing some more posts for a couple of long tails as I see fit
    - writing some more blog posts to be scheduled over the next couple of months
    - scheduling more social media posts and starting the follow/unfollow automation again (which was dormant during my absence)

    The website in numbers:
    - money spent: $156,70 (+/- 0)
    - money earned: $0,00
    - visitors 195 (+84)
    - current daily visitors 6 (+3)
    - twitter followers: 888 (+172)
    - Pinterest followers: 949 (+333)

    - total published pages/posts: 19
    - total scheduled pages/posts: 3
    - index websites 16 (+7)

So far there is not a lot of progress, but then again I did not invest a lot of time in marketing and seo either. I plan to do this in the upcoming weeks and months and see if I can ramp it up a bit. The current content is quite excellent and I took pains in creating something way better than my direct or indirect competitors. My goal is not to get rich, but to gain a solid and steady income with this side project. At the very least it will serve as a solid pbn for my true money site *lol*

    Update:
Time flies by and there are just so many other projects keeping my busy. Still got some decent work done in the meantime for this project, so I thought I'd update this thread. Here is what i have done:
    1. I wrote some more articles for my web 2.0 properties; the links to this website are online by now and, as far as I can tell, indexes (for what it is worth).
    2. I wrote 2 guestposts for quality websites in my niche of which both got accepted and posted
    3. I wrote 2 more posts I had planned from the start to fill out my site (both around 1,5k words)
    4. I wrote 1 more post based on Search Console for a long tail I seem to be able to rank. Let's see. Only has 700 words.
    5. I created a couple of more pinterest images so each and every page and post (where it makes sense) now has a pinnable image inserted
    6. I tweeked my adsense integration a bit, to increase the CTR
    7. I did some manual commenting (about 20) on blogs in my niche
    8. I optimized my theme a bit (mainly toying around with paralax images and headlines.
    9. I also inserted a link to my authority site (the reason why I started this project). Dunno yet if I should link back as well. This website is, after all, utterly legit anyhow.
    Things I planned:
Obviously, I need more links to this project. So I will apply for some more guest posts. Building my own pbn for a pbn..not sure if this is the right approach lol. But I am actually considering it once I created all the content I think I need for this website (which should take about 3 more months in fact).
Originally I wanted to buy a link package here, but I am actually utterly unconvinced they will be superior to standard guest posts. As I got a huge network in that niche, so well...not sure if I should rather stick to these.

Other than that I need to type down some more articles and start creating a couple of shorter ones for the blog I integrated within the website.

    The Website in numbers:
    - money spent: $156,70 (+/- 0)
    - money earned: $0,00
    - visitors 225 (+30)
    - current daily visitors 7 (+1)
    - twitter followers: 881 (+1)
    - Pinterest followers: 1229 949 (+280)

    - total published pages/posts: 22
    - total scheduled pages/posts: 2
    - index websites 17 (+1)

So the stats aint exactly impressive for a 2 months old website. But actually I did not expect a lot more. The keyword is not especially easy and to be quite frank I took a break of one month. As I am really pushing my pinterest, I'll except to see some initial traffic from there soon. My long time goal would be to rank on google, though and this will need more backlinks.
