    So I'm starting this journey thread out of selfish motives really. I feel that when I'm not accountable to anybody, it's just all too easy to procrastinate, read forums all day long, make excuses and then quit. See, I have this classic noob problem - I don't like to put real hard work into any method. I read shit loads, then sit down for an hour or two, mess around and then go looking for the next big thing... On the positive side, I've become reasonably good at Wordpress while building two websites, even though I didn't end up doing much with them... Moreover, now I know 15x more about IM than two months ago when I discovered BHW. And I've had some micro success in porn niche with little work, so I know that there's potential everywhere, I only need some good dedication and discipline, hence this thread! I know that if I put honest work and confidence, I'll achieve my goals, just like I have all other times when I dedicated myself to something.

    This CB journey is partially inspired by Meathead's thread, and partially of my own half-assed experiment last month. I posted some shit product's link on a shitty Twitter account, with a few hundred followers and another one on some random FB group and got 205 hops (0 sales) in total! Just saw these stats yesterday. Moreover, an occasional visitor is keep coming after a month!

    So I'll be building a review site promoting CB products. I'm not going to keep my niche in secret because there's not that many on CB anyway. And don't tell me the niche or method is saturated because what isn't saturated these days?? So my primary niche is addictions, e.g. smoking, drinking, marijuana, though there's not much of a selection of products on CB. I've already picked 4 products, researched them a bit and messaged the vendors, though haven't received any response yet. Should I wait for responses or start promoting anyway?
    UPDATE: got two responses, one of them sent me a review copy!

    If this sub-niche doesn't work out, I'll shift to some other sub-niche within health niche (my domain name is broad, covering anything health related).

    I've started setting up my site, installed Ready Review theme, set up a few plugins, sorted some technical things. I'll complete building the site tomorrow.

    I'll have a blog page on my site, where I'll be posting general stuff about health and, especially, about addictions, provided I'll end up taking up this niche. I want to have a neutral blog page without any money links so as to come off as trustworthy brand which wants to help people, rather than just sell. For blog posts, I'll take some articles provided by vendors, PLR stuff or have somebody from Fiverr write some shit. After all, Fiverr is free, you can get unlimited free gigs if you sign up with your own ref link. (Actually, I've bought my own gigs this and made some free money, however they removed my gig from "free gig" section after I bought five gigs.). The writers are pretty crap there according to my experience, so I'll only use them for blog posts. As for reviews, I'll try some services here on BHW or write my own.

    So my to do list for tomorrow is:

    1. Get a basic website ready
    2. Have 3 articles on my blog, either PLR, articles taken from vendors or some of my few articles on health, which I've spun myself and put on HubPages back in the day.
    3.1. If haven't received any response from the vendors I messaged today, I'll look into another niche and send emails to other vendors.
    3.2. If received responses, write one review myself, others delegate to BHW content writers.

    I hope this journey will not only help myself, but also provide useful info for others and, hopefully, inspiration in case of success!

    Feel free to provide your critique or advice (and sorry for the long post).

    good luck buddy!

    I skimmed through your initial post, seems like you have a good grasp on what you wanna do.

    Be sure the content is high quality and lengthy (1,000+ words minimum).

    Ok, updates coming as promised.

    DAY 1:

    Not a great deal done, due to stuff and a virus on my computer which I spent the whole evening fighting.. I won, though.

    -> I created a basic site, still some things to improve, though. Ready Review theme is apparently crap if you wanna have a blog page on your review site. The theme doesn't distinguish between blog posts and reviews and put blog posts into "hot products" sidebar... So I ended up with Genesis which I like.

    -> I was lazy to write myself so ordered two review articles here on BHW.

    -> I took two of my own spun articles on general health from Hubpages. I deleted them from Hubpages so no duplicate content. I also took an article from my vendor's affiliate resource section. However, I plan to rewrite it as the content is quality and I want to get it indexed.

    -> Actually I think I did something more, but can't remember now LOL.

    Expenses = $10.99
    Revenue = $0
    Profit = -$10.99

    What's next:

    -> Completely finish the website: set-up email subscription, google analytics, make a pretty header, maybe something else.

    -> Spin one blog article

    -> Create some persona: write an about me page, create fb, pinterest, twitter and g+ accounts.

    -> Wait for my review articles, edit them and publish. Depending on their quality I may order more, otherwise will write (aka spin) myself.

    -> Update this thread

    DAY 2:

    Another few hours of work put into the project.

    What I did:

    -> Improved the site: removed all underlines from links in Genesis theme. You will laugh but it took me 2 hours to do just that. I tried to remove them globally but somehow only links in menu bar were affected! I managed to solve it eventually.. Also set up email subscription, tried to add customer review option, but it doesn't work exactly as I want, so I'll leave that for later till I get response from support.

    -> Wrote a short About page. Will extend it in the future. I decided to talk from first person's perspective, rather than "we", as it will be more intimate and appear more trustworthy. I picked a pen name I've created some time ago. I took a public domain photo of a guy, looking about 30 years old. However, I cartoonized the photo a little bit as it'd be awkward if the real person found this. I explained briefly how I recovered from alcohol addiction and stuff.

    -> Created Fb, Pinterest and G+ accounts of some random women (all different names).

    -> Set up Twitter profile for my site. Not sure yet how much I'll use it.

    Expenses = $10.99
    Revenue = $0
    Profit = -$10.99

    What's Next

    -> Receive, edit and publish review articles (still waiting).
    UPDATE: Just received articles. Honestly? Not good at all. Guess I'll write myself...

    -> Write one 1k word review myself*

    -> Spin/get one quality blog post related to my products

    -> Set up BingAds campaign (got about $28 in my account)

    -> Update my hungry followers of this thread

    Okay, so tomorrow is Sunday and I need to take it real easy tomorrow. I haven't taken a day off since Xmas. I want to work on some personal projects (write my blog, study a language, go for a long walk). So expect an update on Monday.

    *I hate writing to be honest. In fact, I'm fairly good at it (I've won writing contests at school, now I'm getting paid writing for one travel website, also write my own blog etc.) but I don't like it at all.

    I suscribed to this thread, you and I are just alike, seriously. I hate writing and started a blog, while I'm good at it. I also started this thing for self interest and usually read for hours without implementing. I hope you take this seriously I'm rooting for you!

    What i know is that many technical people hate writing, me too it has been so had to complete a task and i hate writing, it is also a problem when you tend to overfeed yourself with so much information yet not implementing any.... serious trouble. It is high time that we should stick to a do to list and accomplish some tasks..... I have subscribed, will be following your journey as i also photocopy. Go forth the sky is the limit.

    Good luck for your journey buddy!
    The addiction niche is actually a very good one if you can get targeted traffic. We have an alcohol addiction product on CB and although there is significant competition, those affiliates who can get traffic usually get a CR of 1 sale per 10 hops or better.
    Make sure you pick good products, otherwise refunds can be an issue in this niche.

    Thanks for your encouragement guys!

    Yeah, it was a concern for me prior to choosing my niche. I guess refunds are issue with many niches on CB. I bet people promoting earn money stuff or diets are having real trouble with regards to refunds... One of the product's refund rate is/was less than 2% according to two sources on the internet.

    Okay, yesterday I had a day off and here's what I did today.

    DAY 3:

    I put 4 hrs of concentrated work today (my goal is 5 hrs a day). I had problems with old shitty laptop today so less time on the project.

    What I did:

    -> Wrote/rewrote two review articles. I received the articles which I had ordered, but they were, honestly, of poor quality, so I decided to get rid of my laziness and write myself. One of the reviews is 700, the other 850 words. Both included pictures and aff links as well as internal site links. I found that one article takes me on average 1:45 to 2 hours, including getting pictures, placing aff links, internal linking, formatting etc etc. Which is really good, I reckon!

    -> Interlinked everything in my site e.g. reviews of competing products, blog articles etc.

    -> I got two booklets from my vendor, which I put into a social locker and made available for free download.

    Expenses = $10.99
    Revenue = $0
    Profit =
    -$10.99

    Rough plan for tomorrow:

    -> Do quick on-site SEO (30 min)

    -> Get (PLR) or rewrite one blog article (15 min to 1:15 hours)

    -> Write one review (2 hours)

    -> Post some shit on Twitter (15 min)

    -> Make my fake social accounts more legit (invite friends etc.) (40 min)

    -> Symbolically, post one comment on a blog (10 min). I go full power on Wednesday

    -> Update my niggas on the progress :cool:

    P.S. I was amazed how crappy other people's reviews are on these products, one was automatically spun (wtf man), some are very short, many just talk vague abstractions about how quitting your addiction is good in general, but nothing about the actual product. My reviews are more or less the best LOL.

    P.P.S. I was also amazed how energetic and motivated I was once I started writing after having spent a very lazy morning. Just taking the first step is what it takes.

    P.P.P.S. I got a few Twitter followers even without doing anything at all. Also, 10 hops to my products but I reckon they counted my own clicks.

    Here we go again.

    DAY 4:

    I put a few more hours of work today. About 3:50 hr of concentrated action (not enough) or some 6 hr if counting reading and stuff directly related to the project.

    What I did:

    -> (Re)wrote another (although a bit short, 630 words) review, now I have three. I kept it pretty neutral and objective, without any promotional praising or flashy "buy now" buttons, unlike 80% of reviews online.

    -> Grabbed a PLR article for my blog, just so the site looks more legitimate. Added noindex, nofollow to it.

    -> Did a basic on-site SEO

    -> Sped up my site ever so slightly

    -> Updated Twitter, followed a bunch of people.

    -> Added friends and photos on my fake fb profile, joined some relevant groups.

    -> Joined relevant G+ communities

    -> Posted a single comment on a blog

    Website UVs - 4 (from twitter)
    Hops - 0

    Expenses = $10.99
    Revenue = $0
    Profit = -$10.99

    Plan for tomorrow:

    -> Simple - spend 5 hours commenting EXCLUDING time reading on how/where to comment etc. 5 hours of pure commenting and creating accounts. I know I may not be very effective in the beginning, but I'll get better as I gain knowledge what works, what doesn't and how to post better comments.

    -> Update you guyz on my progress

    What else:

    -> I know, my site isn't full of content yet, but I don't want to do the mistake I've done several times in the past, which is spending loads of time preparing and wearing off before starting to actually promote. The site looks fairly legit, it has 3 reviews, 4 blog posts, 2 social locked downloads, decent looking design. Time to do real stuff now. Time to make some cash.

    -> I want to emphasize, that this journey is not all about the money, it's also about my personal development, because money is only a by-product of a good work ethic. I think I've started off this journey really well, I've been working harder than before, approaching the work I need to do much more "coldly", that is, not weeping about how I don't want to write etc. but just getting to it and do what I must do. Also, writing things down here, instead of keeping in my head, helps me stay focused and cleans my mind, so to speak.

    -> Also I made a pledge not to check my CB stats every 30min. I will only check it once a day, in the evening, and post the stats here. I don't want distractions.

    DAY 5:

    Okay, first day implementing the actual method.

    What I did:

    [sorry if my writing is disjointed today, I'm feeling tired]

    -> Promoted two products today. Commented for about 5 hours. When it came to blogs and news articles, it was difficult finding relevant places to comment, so I concentrated mostly on facebook, which is the opposite. It's really easy to post shit there. I also created another fake account, liked and commented on my main account's posts. Among other things, I created a cheesy picture quote on health and put my url at the bottom. The post got pretty viral :D.

    I joined many groups related to my niche and posted one or two posts/comments per group. Sometimes I would make a post like "Hi! I was looking for some [my niche product].. Is there anything worth looking at? I've heard some good things about [my product], but has any of you actually tried it? Here's a review of it [my url]".

    I have one article on diet foods and, although not related to my CB products, I still posted my site on diet groups. Moreover, I've reviewed a detox product and the good thing about it is that it's applicable to several niches, e.g. alcohol, drug tests, diets. And it's really easy to bullsh1t on FB diet groups. People are dumb there. I just make some "facts" up as I write a comment and connect it to my product. It's not so easy in more serious groups, though.

    I also looked at G+ but there's very little activity there or I didn't know where to look.

    Commented on one YT video, comment ghosted...

    I've heard that forums can be good places to comment but I can't see myself taking time to register and building up post count and stuff... It just takes loads of time. It's like 10 FB posts vs 1 forum post promoting your link. Oh well, I'll try it out nevertheless...

    Today's Stats:

    Rather poor. Let's see.

    Hours worked: approx. 5

    Total comments: 33
    FB: 22
    Blog: 2
    News: 6
    G+: 2
    Forum: 2

    Site UVs: 103 (I heard others make that in 1 hour...)
    Bounce rate: 60%
    CB hops: 3
    Sales: 0

    Expenses = $10.99
    Revenue = $0
    Profit = -$10.99

    My thoughts:

    Today's performance was poor, but I can't say I didn't expect that. I know I'll get better with time. Even my comments got better as the day went by. But for now I don't have a clear idea what works and what doesn't, so it's just split testing until I catch something.

    On the positive side, I'm happy that so far I've been managing to stick with my day goals a hundred percent. Also, today I made my first REAL effort on any method (building sites, reading etc. doesn't count), so I'm excited that finally I'm taking real action and working on something.

    Tomorrow:

    -> Comment for at least 5 hours (today 5 hours)

    Goals:

    -> at least 40 comments (today 33)

    -> 200 site UVs (today 103)

    -> 10 Hops (today 3)

    Hey man... keep up the work... the visitors will pile up with time and comments. Since we are on the same boat in many things (along with avatar), you are welcome to my thread, and I am open for encouragement!

    The difference is already visible in just 1 day...

    Keep up the work and the dream will come...
