Surprisingly I never surpassed 1 million downloads and not even 200k downloads!

Why? Simply because of retention and people genuinely enjoyed the game. It was during this time I learned the power of retention and the strong 300 versus the weak and unloyal 10,000.(Just an analogy).

But with games you really want to aim for retention. A game with 50,000 downloads can make more money than a trash game with 1 million downloads.

    New Update:

I've started my two new IG accounts that will be strategically used for marketing my gams. The sub-niche in gaming that I decided to make both accounts about turns out to be a great niche with lots of engagement.

So far I am getting 200 likes with posts and 30-50 comments for posts where I ask a question. The accounts only have about 600 followers each.

I have also thought and planned out an additional marketing strategy I am excited to try out as well.

    Development:

My new game is coming along well. I have all the game logic and ideas written out and have also set up some agile style task management that I will use. I've used it to break down the game development into tasks and subtasks. This helps with developing because it keeps you on track. As a game developer is very easy to get side tracked with bs, adding uneccesary features, changing things, losing confidence in your idea. These are all normal things that having a solid plan WRITTEN will help with.

I usually first start by making a game design document. This document contais every detail about the game, the basic idea of the game, the game logic, menus, navigation, game mechanics, and how the game will be monetized.

I then use this to break all the tasks down into tasks something like:

"As a player, I can jump over enemies by tapping the screen"

This tells me that I need to build in the ability for users to tap the screen and make their players jump.

    Just a quick tip.

I've been away on a trip so I haven't dont much in terms of development but this week I will be back at it, full throttle.

If anyone has games they are working on or need some feedback with, feel free to reach out! I'll be glad to give your game a play and offer my feedback.

    Nice man!

    - What FB game?
    - Did you build it yourself?
    - What was your marketing strategy/channels?

We can definitely discuss mobile games more and I can offer as much help as I can!

It was similar to mobwars & mafia wars in the game play... I used a game engine that somebody else built...at the startup, we were just posting it in FB groups and had 1000 players a couple days later...it started making money immediately and then spent about $2k in FB ads...it made almost 100k the first year...
