Any update? I hope the author of this thread still update this
Excellent thread!, waiting for him to comeback.
Very interesting thread, looking forward to reading an update.
Thanks for sharing such a useful info here. All the best...
Maybe he makes so much money that he doesn‘t want to post anymore
Just had a read through all your posts from prior to the Journey thread, I must say, that is some heavy information which I am super happy about.
I know you do not post anymore, could be due to the reasons you have listed earlier (website is highly profitable/ranked - etc)
If possible, could you please send me a PM and give me some information regarding the websites you have visited in order to learn the process prior to you getting into the whole movie streaming business? e.g Scraps/executing scripts php, I am eager to learn and desperate for knowledge.
Appreciate you writing this awesome journey, looking forward for an update!
Taking HEAVY inspiration from this. I'm also planning to develop a streaming site (anime maybe) and make it a PWA with no ads but with Coinhive mining (only while you're watching video) and se how it goes.
and what your planning to get traffic ?
is that possible? how you intend on doing that, the Idea sounds very nice if it's doable. forgive my noob questions
Great journey! Keep rocking and I wish you reach your goals
This is what I was thinking too, as it is the best form of profit I have seen from other websites, ads business will die out soon enough, most are using the method you had mentioned.
I don't have a plan but I have some ideas. Maybe start with a bunch of micro-sites for very specific niches for testing and scale up from there. And just use organic SEO and cross linking, then test tweak and repeat and so on.
Sure it's totally doable. I've made some PWAs and native apps before, I just would have to figure out how to implement the CoinHive API in a non-abusive way so it's a win-win for both the user and myself. I don't know how profitable could be yet but to be honest I would be doing it for fun mainly.
Yeah, in my opinion the only winners from ads are the ad businesses themselves. Site owners have to abuse ads to make a profit and users have to pay the price of it. I would like to offer a seamless experience without the need of ad-blocking or using paywalls. Basically I lend you free content in a seamless experience and in the meantime you lend me a bit of your computing power for covering running costs. Seams feasible to me.
Agreed! It takes a bit to set up, but well worth it imo - the amount of coins that will flow in, beautiful.
Will you start a journey? Please mention me if you do
Good luck with your journey
Following this, seems interesting.
So I did go with the movie streaming site and I did reach around $3-4k a month with one of my JV (SEO) for niche tv streaming sites + my main movie site which I wasn't backlinking or anything so I just left it to the side. Obviously if I did proper organic SEO on this, it would've made more but I was trying to be under the radar. YES, I did get contacted by a lawyer from Warner Bros to remove a movie and I did remove the movie accordingly. I also had to go through final exam season and I kind of left this project to wither and die so I stopped generating traffic because I had none of my bots working 24/7 because I didn't bother updating the algorithm to adjust for slight HTML changes for Youtube/Reddit (I was comment botting and reddit autoposting on relevant subreddits to generate traffic - I didn't bother doing SEO traffic for my main movie site - I will change this for the next time). So now I'm back, and ready to actually focus on this project again, but I have broken pieces of code that I need to fix and offer maintenance to and looking at all this code makes my head spin so I'm thinking of doing some of the scripts from scratch (not all) to make it ALOT faster and efficient and easier to read. And because I'm doing this, I've decided to re-develop my site on Wordpress so I can have the luxury of the WP plugins that do SO much for you in terms of SEO and ease of use on the site in general. So I've been developing my Wordpress theme and in the middle of development, I decided... You know what? Let's create this theme and create an admin page for it on the WP admin panel so that the theme can be highly and easily customized. So what I'm thinking of doing is selling this theme ALONG with my script that contacts my central database and fetches links. All of the information will be available in the future. But for now, I am in mid-development and will be working towards my journey of creating a series of mini-movie streaming sites that are generating few thousand each rather than one whole site generating butt loads of money (so I can have multiple income streams).
So I've just been working on a theme (for WP) for a while so it should be here soon, here is some progress pictures (note its very customizable so for some little nuances that u don't like, u can disable features like slider, background image depending on movie/episode selected, etc).
I decided to go a very sporadic approach and am trying not to copy 123movies or dooplay themes which are super popular in the movie streaming niche so I'm just thinking of something very animated and lively with lots of media but not too much because I want the theme to be as clean as it can be with that goal in mind.
I use a service which is an image cache & resize proxy. Their servers resize your image, cache it worldwide, and display it. so I pretty much feed it images and it displays them rather than the server hosting the site meaning we're not hosting the images so it loads super fast and is cached. I just have to integrate it with my algorithm and it will be completely automated!
Btw, lots of you guys messaged me and I didn't get back - apologies - was super busy!
P.S. Just wanted to drop this by. I'm deciding to make it super multi-lingual because there is huge money in different languages / countries if you can target that with SEO. So the user has the option to change the language! I will be releasing images of the theme in the future!
WordPress is a rather bad choice I think, I used to manage a french streaming website and we had to switch from WP to a custom solution once we started getting 100k+ daily visitors. Maybe try developing your own lightweight cms?
