Journey to 1 million words by the end of 2023

Agencies use AI content more so.

Another red flag. AI content is usually a big blob of boring text without subheadings (unless specified).

I used AI content some time ago, but AI uses a list sometimes instead of a big blob of boring text. I can't differentiate if it's written manually or using an AI. But I really think it was written manually as sometimes he asked for references if the keywords is too niche focused.

How did you got a paying blog that generate such amount of money

That's a big money? There are some blogs out there that generate $10k+/month using AdSense only. You can check flippa to expand your horizon.

I can only post 2 articles today. I originally wanted to post 3 articles and make them more than 3000 words today, but it turns out one of the articles is not well-researched enough and I asked for a rewrite.

Almost 30k words, 970k words to go.

Great Strategy and plan. Let's hope for the best. Good Luck

I can only post 1 article today. For the 60k words, I'm using two writing agencies. Let's call it agencies 1 and agencies 2. For all this moment, I'm using agencies 2 as they keep delivering and I'm still on the waiting list for agencies 1.

Well, yesterday agencies 1 start sending me their writing. Checking them today, and it was HORRIBLE. It's only a bit better than using a machine to rewrite it. I spent 3 hours correcting the whole thing and mind you they only send me 2 articles (a total of 4700 words). Send one of them for rewrite, and rewrite the other one myself.

I have to ask for a refund for the 25400 words that haven't been written yet.

I'm too tired to post another article after correcting their mistakes, will resume it tomorrow. I also already found another 2 agencies and will check their results first, before ordering again to make sure that I am satisfied with their performance.

On the bright side, some of my articles have already been indexed by Google. Hopefully, I can see an increase in traffic and income next month.

I'm trying to compensate for yesterday by posting a little bit more today.

I won't be posting new articles today to soothe my heart. I don't know why but yesterday the traffic dropped by 25%, today is still ongoing but it looks like it will drop even more, my estimate is I will lose 60-70% of them.

After checking some of my keywords SERP, many of them went from page 1 to page 10+.

Well, it looks like the Google update happens yesterday. Hopefully, it's just dancing and I will get back my traffic in the next few days, but this really hurt my spirit.

But man, this really really hurts me a lot.

Don't give up bro keep doing hard work this is google update. you can reach your goal if you want

Hi mate,
I like how consistent you've been with your updates, Just don't give up so soon!!

This is "Google spam" update, and based on your OP, your website, with the existing content (1,200 posts about different "coffee machines", which obviously isn't your niche, with little difference between the posts since there's no room for much difference) is exactly a type of website I will imagine the update will target.

I suggest you to delete most of those article, perhaps keep just 100 of them or even less, and focus on what you do now ("how to" posts, etc), until 1,000,000 words of new content. You won't regret sticking with it down the road, just have to stick with it. You know, the 100-150 users/day those 1K posts bring is actually nothing. A single good "how to" post can bring the same amount daily... So keep going and don't give up on this :)

It's not as bad as it seems, I believe you will recover because you didn't even begin to receive traffic from most of your articles.

You will have drops in traffic even with perfect content, it's just the nature of this business. Gotta keep plowing.

It ia huge task, you can write by yourself or hire content writer to do your job?
I'm using content writer. I don't have the time to write it all myself.

Yeah, I lost 25% the day before yesterday, and yesterday I lost 90% of the traffic. I usually got around 300 PV/day, yesterday only got 29.
I won't even talk about income as it became nonexistent.

@Kikerinka, @blogmen

Yeah, you guys are correct, I think I can still recover from this.

Yesterday I'm trying to chill around and keep positive and rational looks on the blog. My conclusion is:
Yes, it's normal that big G to target my blog for spam updates.

This is because the blog currently targets super low competition keywords [10-50 searches/month]. The goal is to get to page 1 and as far as rank 2. Rank 1 is usually reserved for the brand names which you can't beat, but rank 2 - 10 is different, because of the low search, I'm usually competing around forums and small blogs like it.

Even with rank 2 and a small search volume, with enough articles, you will get decent traffic. That's the current strategy for this blog.

When google update came out, after checking a few keywords, I realize google penalizes sites like mine and put forums or blogs with a better backlink at a higher rank. It's still dancing I think, but I won't hope much for me to recover my traffic at all as it was clear that Google considers my blog as spam or very low rank.

What is my current plan:

1. No, I won't delete the current articles and will leave them be. I just need to make google think that my blog doesn't just contain low-quality articles but decent ones too. Hopefully, it will also restore the other ranks.

2. I'm thinking of moving the blog from Blogspot to WordPress.
Currently, the blog is hosted on Blogspot. I fear moving to WordPress and hosting it myself because of the 404 Error, well with the current condition I have little to lose.
Not only that, but with WordPress I can use a few plugins to make it more interesting to the reader.

3. Continue the journey
I am already at minus $4.5k and I think if I abandon the project, I won't see my money back. I still have enough money to make keep going and make this project successful.

Good news:
Google still indexed all of my posts.
While I've got no rank, but at least it's not deindexed yet, so there is a chance for a comeback.

I actually wanted to post a bit more, but it turns out the articles need a rewrite. Looks like the writer can't find or is too lazy to find more references and try to tell a story from 1500 words from 300 words articles. It's a huge mess.

I will try to move the blog to WordPress around next week while preparing everything and keep on posting. I believe the blog can still be salvaged and grow to a lot more.

And it looks like I can't post as often as before, as some writers start writing useless stuff that needs a lot of revision from me. It's time-consuming and I need to keep asking for revision if it's too much. Hopefully, it's just a phase where they need to match my criteria and can pick up the speed after they get to it.

Good luck with your journey! Just curious, how many visitors go on your website each day to get that much money from Adsense?

I'm thinking of moving the blog from Blogspot to WordPress.
Wow, I didn't realize you're at blogger now. It's very limiting. Good idea to move to wp. You can set custom permalink structure so you have the exact urls as before and avoid 404.

First of all, I am glad you are going to continue :). No doubt this can be a success, and I really like the fact that you focus more on the number of words, instead of on income or other metrics.

On the other hand, maybe you can explain a bit more why you want to keep all those 1K posts that Google considers spammy?
I understand that those $150-$200/month is still something, but no doubt with such little traffic a small part of these posts (10%-20%) generates 90% of traffic/income, and hence it really may be worth considering deleting at least the rest of the spammy articles :).

When it comes to the transition to WP, you will be neither the first nor the last to do this, and there are tutorials online to make sure you don't end up with plenty of 404 :). You can check one here for example: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutor...-to-wordpress-without-losing-google-rankings/

Hope this helps, good luck to you and I will keep my eye on your journey!

Yeah, I think that's one of the reasons that I can buy this blog. Less competition.

Hope this helps, good luck to you and I will keep my eye on your journey!

There are several reasons for that:
1. I have a bad experience when deleting articles. Tried it once and lost 50% of organic traffic.
2. Yes, you are correct that 10%-20% of the posts generate 90% of the income, but I think that's the nature of this business.
Let me give you an example:
- spammy 1 is about software A, a little review (around 300 words), and a download link.
- spammy 2 is about software B, which is also the same. a little review and download link.

Now, obviously, I can't beat rank 1 as it is occupied by brand A and B websites, but I can occupy rank 2-10.

Now I'm maybe I'm writing an article about "how to use software C" [software C is much more popular than software B and A as it makes no sense to write in-depth for a very low search volume].
I can link back from this article to software A and B posts when necessary.

That's the reason I think I'm keeping it. It makes a nice little addition to the post, not really needed but nice to have.

I also think that's the reason this blog is considered spammy. Only a little review and then a download link, all 1200 posts are like that. A little tutorial and in-depth articles should change google's thought.

Moving the Blog to WP.

Yeah, I'm trying to make it without 404, but I also want to change the permalink as we all know that bloggers have date permalinks which I don't like.
So I want to change from www.domain.com/2022/10/hello-world to maybe www.domain.com/category/hello-world

much cleaner for me. I will try to move it this month, as I need to set aside some time to move it.
