Journey time: Becoming the Go-To-Gal in a 450k women's group

How will this end up?

  • Well. You'll make a killing

  • Ok. The back and forth communication will make it not worth it

  • Terrible. You will rage quit

  • Terrible. They will kick you out.

  • I don't care

Background:

Some of you (very few) saw my post regarding helping a friend's brother who was scammed out of a lot on money. I spent the weekend basically dumbing down one of my services to a level he could understand and implement. In the process, I basically wrote out a simple step by step manual on how to run a social media content service - like I said, very simple, basically creating graphics and posting them to insta, FB, LinkedIn, GMB, etc. in the most time and brain efficient way.

Background section #2:

I am part of a FB group of 450k business women. By business women, I mean that 5% of them actually run businesses and are primarily there to find leads, 30% of them are on the verge (seemingly perpetually on the edge) of starting something and the rest are wannabe "babe bosses". I actually dislike this group with a simmering passion. (I'm not sure if that came across).

You can pay to advertise as a Stand Out Member (SOM). The most advertised service is... tarot card readings. (I can't even...). One purveyor of said service made 10k from one post...(I honestly just can't even....) The second most advertised service is coaching... spiritual coaching, sexual energy coaching, mindset coaching, trauma coaching, past life coaching (whatever that means), etc.

You can also post to get advice. The most popular such posts are: which headshot do you like best; which logo do you like best; and, my husband/boyfriend is not supportive and said blah blah blah...I will not comment on the quality of these posts.

Actual Journey: become a known expert in the group and sell something of actual value. The good thing is that they like to spend money. (I feel like I am stereotyping here but I'm not). Someone once posted that they felt bad paying their VA only $400 a month. She was completely attacked for, and I quote, "supporting slavery". Keep in mind, the VA was located in India.

Steps:

1: Add a new page to one of my sites with simple outlines on how to start 5 different online businesses. Add option to purchase the Social Media Content Service Business playbook.

2: Become SOM

3: Post the link. Answer all the dms.... God help me.

4: Gauge reception and repeat with other manuals/offerings.

The main goal is to see how receptive such a group would be to actual information and how possible it is to gain influence.

I'll update here daily. This shouldn't take long. It will either work or I will get frustrated and lose interest very fast

Wish me LUCK!

:)

I think we are in the same group. If you need someone to give testimonials on your post in the group I can help you with it.
Good luck.

Day 2:

Website Page is completed.

I spent some time in the group...and almost ended the experiment right then and there BUT someone posted a file of 50 other women business groups. I had a look through them... they are all rather similar but I will expand the experiment to some of those groups. Most popular post for the day was some Intuitive training.

Goal for tomorrow is to be accepted in all the groups I join and start posting as well as finishing off the manual. It was previously all words but I think screenshots/images would add some much needed beautification.

Day 3:

I'm in 75% of the groups now. I've officially "applied" for Stand Out Member status. My goal would have been to post over the weekend but I'm rethinking that as it is Easter weekend.

I'm probably take off tomorrow and Friday off....and just reply to other people's posts over the weekend.

I wish you good luck. These people seem to be a very good target audience! Stupid women with a lot of money ? It's a pure goldmine, you can do something with it!

Best of luck mate, I like that title - SOM - it means a scary fish with huge bones that's hard to eat. Good luck becoming a SOM too!

Good luck OP.. always good to try with minimum effort and time expended to test on small scale and then iterate and upsize if it goes well. You've got it in the bag.

This sounds like an interesting journey and since most women love social media, I can see your playbook selling well. Good luck op.
