    Hey everyone.

I just thought I'd document my short journey/ test to see if I can make any money from Amazon Associates with my established viral content site.

My website is basically a knockoff of Upworthy/BuzzFeed/ViralNova. I mainly promote through a Facebook page that has just over 55,000 likes. All likes are real and I've grown trust with my "likers" over the course of 18 months.

The main way that I will get that amazon cookie onto my visitors computer is through articles with titles such as, "You Won't Believe These 10 Weird Things Sold on Amazon."

I plan on posting 1 article (which will be different every time) over the corse of 10 days at 10 different posting times.

The best times to post that I've found are as follows:

    00:00
    02:00
    08:00
    11:00
    12:30
    14:00
    17:10
    18:30
    20:00
    22:00

I'll post results from 24 hours after each posting from reach and social shares. For now, I will NOT be using FB ads to promote. There will be no cost to me.

Hopefully this will be a success. I monetize through other methods, but I'm hoping to find new ways to increase revenue on this project.

Best of luck. Im definitely going to check back in on your progess. There is a lot of good resources out there for Amazon Associates, but I think the key to all of it is getting the right engagement and presenting it correctly. Also, having your PPC and add spend documented well so you can scale up the successful ads.

Very interested in this, i run the same sort of site, and i have been looking for ways to expand other than the typical adsense/content ads. So will be checking in and seeing how it goes for you. Not very versed in Amazon though I've read the cookie only lasts 24 hours. Seems like mostly a dice roll if anyone would buy anything or if they'll buy a $1 hdmi cable or a $3000 TV. Still the surprise bonus could be nice. Good luck man.

try to promote "whacky" and "odd" products like the flying fuck copter and no just use widgets on sidebars, they will not convert very well

    RESULTS FROM DAY 1

I would love to post screenshots, but because I'm a newbie here it won't let me post any imgur links. Maybe I can add them in later.

    Here are the stats:
    - Posted at 22:00
    - The post reached 3,319 Facebook users
    - 538 total UV's to the article as of now
    - The post received 3 likes (wow I really need to get back into posting more and getting my engagement up)
    - It was shared 203 times via Facebook and 15 times on Twitter
    - 3 clicks on Amazon (disappointing)
    - $0.00 sales

I found out that the cookie only stays on the visitors computer for 24 hours, which may seriously effect any referrals that I produce.

I have my next amazon affiliates post scheduled for 02:00.

How are you linking to amazon exactly? Are you just linking through images, linking through texts? are you using a call to action on them? From the sounds of the CTR it seems like you're missing something that makes them interested in seeing more about the items.

I'm linking just through text in the article. Yeah I'm going to have to look through it and test a few different link placements. It's hard, because I do NOT want to tell them to buy the items. I don't want to loose people by being "salesy." This website has done VERY well just through PPC ads. I just want to try and expand it a little. I really appreciate the advice. Ty.

Yea some good CTA's would def improve the CTR.
Forgot the post, but it had some good ideas on sneak, but not "right in your face, salesy" type of call to actions you could do.

I know one was something like "to see more pictures, click here" or the basic "click here for more information"
Other than that, you could make all the pictures clickable to the amazon link.

Interesting journey - what type of articles have you been pushing recently?

As one commenter already said, weird/funky products that are shareable would work well. can you also look at linking organically? Such as 'Top 10 Doorm Room Essentials' (student are starting soon) and linking within the content.

    Interested to see further tests
