You made a great point here. If one wants to grow their intelligence (or at least maintain it), solving problems on your own, and facing the unknown, is an absolute must. Looking for a solution to most simple problems on Google won't take us anywhere as humanity...
Common sense and using natural instinct is another thing, and a very important one indeed. Sadly it is disappearing...

I honestly believe that we aren't far from a day when majority of human race will be so attached to technology (information wise, mentally wise, addiction wise) that they just won't be able to live without it, even for a short period of time. Take their smartphone away and they will end up in asylum or die.

Nice to see you around after a while mate, and glad that you still continue . Many people will recharge the batteries during the summer, but I will be the one working . Not crazy hours of course, but 2-4 hours each day won't hurt, and should pay of in months with high RPM.

Yeah, the situation is as you say, and sure enough tourism will be booming this summer. Already from Spain I had to fly home business class, since there was no economy class tickets left from any airports I could realistically fly from, in order to get close to the place I call home. The answer is very simple: Open Office Spreadsheets .

I have a separate sheet for every content push, and I check each article manually in Google analytics. Once it is ranking, I change the color of the background of the cell with the URL of that article. I actually use different colors to indicate different things...

Anyway, I takes a lot of time at the beginning, but once majority of articles are already ranking (which is the case now), you check just the few that aren't (based on the background color), which really takes just few minutes . This time around it took me maybe 20 minutes for all three content pushes.

Hello mate, thanks, I'm fine, though it was very hot here where I live for the last two weeks, and I do not exactly thrive in such weather .

To your question: In a true meaning of the word, I do not use any of these plugins. I have Yoast installed, but really the only thing I use there is the Readability score, which helps me make sure the articles I write are well-formatted and easy to read for the website visitor (keeping the sentences short most of the time, avoiding excessively "technical" language, making sure I use enough sub-headers, avoiding excessive use of passive voice, etc).

Needless to say, with so much experience in writing I typically achieve the "good" readability score without thinking about it. But on some days or with some topics I don't, and on such occasions the functionality comes handy, since you can click on the readability tab it and see what exactly is the problem. Like on the screenshot below, which I take right now from one article I am editing:


When it comes to other functionality most people likely use, such as entering a target KW for each article and trying to achieve some keyword density etc, I do not do this, and suggest you to avoid it as well. Write for people, not for bots and spiders .

Just a heads up, check if everything is indexed cause there seemed to be a bug with Yoast last week where it would noindex certain pages by mistake. Another reason i switched to RankMath.

@Kikerinka thanks a lot friend for your response! personally i've been using yoast for several years and lately i switched to Rankmath due to some bugs! but i don't really know if i made the good choice by making the switch! thanks a lot for clarifying that.

I have also seen Shaun's video and wanted to briefly share my own experience here.
I have tested the AI technology, my findings are only based on the German language. I got a Rytr account for one month, about two months ago. The result was disappointing, the text fragments were partly without logical context. It was impossible to take over even small text modules unedited. Even simple questions were answered inadequately or incorrectly.

For me, AI technology is currently a nice gimmick, nothing more. The time required to create a sensible article is similar to that required if I were to write it without support. There are also some sites in Germany that use this technology and some of them have good rankings. However, it always pains me to read such texts, and they cannot win me over as a reader.

However, one should bear in mind that, at least in my opinion, humanity is getting stupider and stupider, and if I'm not mistaken, Kikerinka has also described this in a similar way here in the thread. A simple question that one can answer oneself is googled. For this person, AI content is probably enough and they will be happy with it.

The fact that Google supports this shows once again the limitations of the algorithm. As I said, my experiences are all for the German-speaking world and here AI Content is not a solution for me and not even a support. The PAA section at Google helps me just as much here. I cannot judge how it looks with other providers, for example Jasper.

For my part, I assume that I will continue to write my texts myself for the next few years. Only then, when the technology makes another big leap forward, will this become interesting for me. And the exciting thing about a text can only come about when the creator adds his or her own personal touch. Will artificial intelligence ever be able to do this?

Thanks mate, I have checked the latest articles and they are all indexed. It is crazy though that such a popular plugin, with millions of users worldwide, can have such a bug!

I honestly think it isn't one of those things that matter much . Once you publish 500 quality articles, you'll be good with any of these applications, or none of them. On the contrary, if your website is stuck with 10 articles for a year, you can hardly expect any miraculous results, regardless of any free/premium plugins you may use.

Thanks mate, I watched his video now when you pointed it out.

Well, first of all, I wished Shaun had not left BHW and we would have a chance to discuss it with him here in person. But it is what it is, and I do not have an anonymous YouTube account, hence do not comment on his videos.

My thoughts (maybe Shaun will read them here):

- First of all, I think with this his project, he's really focused primarily on money, reaching the 1 million dollar valuation for his website as soon as possible. He's not trying to build some amazing brand, a website he'd once can show to his friends or anyone, a website he'd be proud of (or grateful for having to chance) to build.

In this way it differs significantly from my approach. I try to build websites of real value, and see money just as a result of this process. Very few people from my circles know which websites are mine, but if anyone anytime discovers one of them, I have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, and can happily confirm it is my site.

Obviously for him, with the goal to build the site quickly and sell it, he looks for ways to save time, to achieve the goal sooner. I think he doesn't mind much if the content is average. As long as it is at least somehow decent and ranks, that's good for him.

- But I still think he made a mistake here... Why? Simply because he can write so quickly. He can churn 1K words article of decent quality in below 30 minutes, and job done. With the process of:

• 1. Letting AI write the article,
• 2. Editing it manually and posting,
• 3. Eventually hiring someone to rewrite it
• 4. Again editing it before posting

I just cannot see him saving any time in this way whatsoever honestly... Sure enough, there are people who write really slow and it takes them 4 hours to get 1K word article done, or their English sucks and they barely write better than AI... For them maybe Shaun's process can make sense, save them time, help them avoid burnout. Not for him though.

- Secondly, whether we admit it or not, using AI content on your website posses some risk, without a doubt, and this risk will likely grow down the road (Google certainly tries to fight against such websites). How this will evolve and how much time it will take is hard to say, as well as how harsh the impact will be, for example whether eventually only AI content on your site gets penalized/deindexed, or the entire website.

But I believe that Shaun, with such a big project and so much time and money he already invested in this, trying to build it right way from the start, for him the risk of using AI for any content on his website just isn't worth it--even if it is as small as 5% that his website will get penalized due to this approach.

So these are my thoughts, and I do not plan to use AI on any on my projects .

On a side note, have you noticed that our friend ANewBeginning, aka AnotherShot, aka Absolvo, is doing really well with his new BHW account? Already at premium and selling stuff here with banners in his signature

None of the agencies I've talked to and whose content I've read take this risk. Unless it's an agency focused on black hat methods that don't aim to build strong brands. 2 cents.

Someone will say that I was fooled by authority. Well, just go to a certain section of this forum and see who sticks at the top and who suddenly flies down.

Or look at who is adding content all the time, and who does nothing for several years, no automation, and continues to make money.

Well, automation makes sense, but not in brand building. Maybe link building, but this must also be controlled.

And the model must be well-trained. You can't just upload content from GPT-3 to the site. I would limit it to experimental projects, regardless of whether it is a fine-tuned model or not.

For me, MediaVine is better than Adthrive

Phew! Finally got through all the 98 pages in its entirety (just in time before it hits the 100 pages mark ), taking notes and absorbing all the brilliant information nuggets from this monster (a brilliant one at that) thread! Have to admit, this is one of THE most inspiring volumes of work I have ever read (better than any motivational book)! In complete awe of the amount of great wisdom you've parted onto everyone who's been following this thread, and your commitment and dedication to your work is something most people like me can only dream of! Hats off to you @Kikerinka !

Now the personal reason why this thread has inspired me so much is because I started a blog in March 2020 and since then have only managed to get 24 articles on it till date (averaging less than an article a month, I know!). The reason for this is twofold -

1. I've always had the shiny object syndrome, always running after the next lucrative idea, the next shortcut. Without actually dedicating focussed effort towards one thing and sticking with it. This is because of my lack of attention and getting bored of things quickly, not just in IM but in life generally. But I keep coming back to my work on this site after I get bored of that next shiny thing (it's like a love-hate relationship if you will).
2. My niche is highly competitive and requires long-form articles to be able to even stand a chance to compete with the other much bigger websites. This requires a lot of time and effort into research and the actual writing. So I tend to lose motivation time and time again when I'm unable to churn out articles at the pace that I see other people smashing them out. Sometimes the gap being as long as 4 months without any writing done at a stretch.

The website still brings in about 1500 visits a month (and a whopping $6 a month from Adsense ) and I know for a fact that given the right amount of work, I can make it into something substantial. I don't have any specific question to ask you as such but any tips/words of wisdom from you will be a boost for me at this stage.

Try to find a greater purpose in this.

Create a product, develop a brand, build a community. The age of simple blogs has ended long time ago. These days even local pages cover 1000 words of contextual text for google.

Basically you need to see it as a business, not a hobby project. If you see your business as a hobby, don't expect anyone to show up at work. Even if you manage to set aside one saturday every week to write whole day, you can get 12k words of content. But you need to learn about your niche all the time. Otherwise, you will be slow and you will spend that one day to research and write about one topic.

So you learn, read books about your niche throughout the week. You gather material, notes etc. Then you spend one day doing the actual work. You need to be educated to be able to focus on writing. Separating the task of learning and writing is crucial. If you do both at the same time, it will feel overwhelming.

The thing is that different people have different goals and mindsets . Not everyone wants to build a brand, though I certainly do .

Some people find it fascinating to "play with the code", and sometimes also with the rules, trying to find a big hole that Google hasn't patched yet (or any other traffic source they work with). I completely understand it, though I also know it is hard to find inner satisfaction from following such a route, in IM or in life...

Without inner satisfaction and meaning depression and other mental issues often creep in. Reading journeys here, and seeing things in-between the lines, one can certainly feel that.

Still, I 100% understand this. It's the same like when you spend a week in Marabella or Maspalomas. You see hordes of people for whom "every night is Saturday night", drinking, taking drugs, living as if there were no tomorrow. In a way you see a deep sadness within them, and you cannot imagine living that way. Yet deep down you also understand life is a complex endeavor, and not always easy to bear with for many. Each of us tries to cope in their own way, the best they could at the moment... I have 100% respect and understanding for that.

Anyway, now I write almost like you, starting with one topic and then going completely off topic . So back to the topic: Building a brand is something for a long run, and definitely something you shouldn't take risks with. No doubt serious agencies & writers would never use AI content, since they also try to build their (personal) brand, however small it may be.

Again though, not everyone here tries to build a brand, and I feel Shaun falls within that group (at least with his 1 million dollar site valuation project). Let's see what happens down the road, but I certainly wish him just the best success!

Uff, it still moves me to read such words, and seeing someone devoting so much time to my thread here. If there was an emoticon with a tear in an eye I'd insert it here . Thanks a ton for your words!

You've read the entire thread, so I am sure you know what to do. But I will try just a few things, but I am moved now so maybe the advice won't be as good as I'd like it to make:

1. Try to think about a meaning, a goal why you do this. It is much easier to come back every day (or every other day) to the website and write that new article, once you know why you do it. the goal can be anything, but should be big enough to inspire you and help you overcome your laziness.

Perhaps financial freedom, perhaps building your own house (like @leit ), perhaps having a chance to let everything go and live like a digital nomad with no worries of money whatsovever (like Shaun), o maybe building a real brand in the niche, website that helps hundreds of thousands of people a month with top-notch advice, and isn't just another website on the web. Something you can look back on and say to yourself: Well done, I've built something of true value, I left my mark in this niche and industry.

2. Don't focus on the competitiveness of the niche as a whole. Focus on finding low comp keywords/topic in the niche. I can 100% guarantee you there are such keywords, in every single niche. If right now you have to write 2-3K words articles to try to compete with the big websites, you need to come back one step and return to keyword research, finding those keywords/topics big websites do not cover (or at least not in a separate article), and with 1K words long article you'll be on the top.

You already have some traffic and hence some data, and spending time in Google Search Console can give you some interesting ideas. No doubt a time will come for those long TOP class posts to compete with big sites, but I believe you're not at that point of your journey now .

3. Try to create a new habit. I do not know your daily routines, what you do outside of IM etc. But for example if you have some free time in the morning, make this habit of giving your website 1 hour each and single day, always the same time of a day (for example between 8am to 9am). Even if you manage to write just 500 words during that hour, or even less, it will be an important habit that will change everything for you.

You will find this routine hard from the start, but believe me that if you stick with it for 30 days, you'll find it easy, natural, and will even look forward to it. And once it happens, before you know it you have a lot of content on your website .

Everything is interconnected. We shall not shy away from admiring that. It is the reason life exists. Sometimes I feel like the most versatile person in the world. Maybe that's the nature of a dreamer?

I used to feel anxious about it. I started taking nootropics and caffeine. However, this only made the situation worse. Today I am already living with it without these caffeines.

If I want I can focus, for example, creating a content calendar, but I really need to create a real calendar first and then write. Otherwise everything falls down.

And I am back again . I am curious about how you managed to deal with something that I am currently seeing. I have started to release more content, rising from about 10 articles a month to almost one every day. But the problem is that I spook my main competitors and he went ahead and bought links. And they are phenomenal links, la crème de la crème. So Google in its infinite wisdom ogled at these new delicious offerings and went Hey! The hell with the content, this guy tickles my pickle. So, after months of gaining far more ground and getting closer to the 10K USD per month target (plagiarized it from you), I have started to drop, being overtaken by bob, the link builder. My plan is to continue my obsessive article creation and ramp it up even more, but did you deal with something like that since I don't remember reading something similar in this journey. And I read it all!

I'm currently at this, I put out an average of 1.5 articles per day, those with backlinks are soaring as usual, but I'm not concerned, I am a firm believer that the more the content the more your chances of ranking even higher than some backlink merchants. Nevertheless, I look forward to his reply.
