Hello all, After a lot of research into making a good quality site, I have finally figured out 3-4 niches and I have already gotten articles written around it and will keep getting it written from our writers as I discover more and more keywords ( more on that later ). I will try to write this journey as a guide also to newbies out there. In my research I have found very good tools which I believe will help me in making good sites and flip them for $xx,xxx each . I know that you might be feeling it like a bit of stretch which is why I ahve given myself a realistic 8 - 12 months. My primary motivation for this journey thread was this thread on BHW : Code: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/black-hat-seo/528157-how-not-google-slave-white-hat-its-best-creating-authority-site.html I believe seoguy99 has beautifully laid out how to make a good authority websites. So I focused on a niche and researched topics and keywords for the nice and so far I have got 28 articles in that niche which is pretty good. Ill start doing more research and as and when I find more topic ideas I will add more content to it. Here is what I have done so far and what I plan to do: 1. Domain : I went over to Godaddy auctions and bought myself a nice 6 year old domain name. Luckily for me the domain is pretty brandable. It costed me over $20. If you dont wish to do this, you can buy an old domain and redirect it to your website, it will pass on the age authority to your new website. At the end of the day, when you have an old domain you have a better chance of ranking in the SERPs. 2. Design : I was very particular about this and hence chose a really nice theme. I researched a few logos in my niche and got one done something similar which similar color schemes. I got it done on fiverr but it actually turned out pretty well . I didnt pay him $5 though I paid a little more due to continuous revisions. I used the lightly theme from themeforest, you can find the theme here. Its a really nice theme and it gives a very professional look to the website. I especially liked the layout of the theme, its plain simple and beautiful. Remember : Don't ignore the logo and design, it might cost you a little more but it has huge benefits in terms of creating authority. 3. Plugins : Here are the list of plugins that I have used : 1. Wordpress SEO by yoast . : One of the best out there ) 2. Google Analytics : Say what you want, but I have to have this, this gives immense data which I can use to better understand the beahviour of my visitors 3.Digg Digg : This is a really cool plugin which allows you to add a floating share buttons like the one you find on mashable. This can really help in getting more shares. 4. Better WP security : This is a must have plugin for everyone who is using Wordpress. Here is a beautiful thread on how to use WP security effectively on your website by Originalexe Code: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/blogging/464934-guide-secure-your-wordpress-website-howto.html I might be adding more plugins along the way, if you know any cool plugin please suggest 4. Page speed service by Google This an amazing free service ( for a limited time ) by Google . What page speed does is it speeds up your website. It basically prioritizes your content above the fold and loads that first and then start loading the other half. Basically Google's server will do all the heavy lifting for you. Page speed is really important. I suggest you read this case study about site speed and why it is so important. I will also be moving to WP engine hosting very soon. Even they have CDN ( similar to page speed service ) and they are specialized in wordpress hosting. Once I start seeing some visitors and revenue I will move it WP engine. 5. Email marketing : I will also be using email marketing to fulfill 2 main objectives : 1. Get a regular trickle of traffic to the website. I will schedule to deliver my posts on a regular interval. 2. Promote amazon products to these lists or maybe some other products. How may I going to capture email? Two ways : 1. I am going to use Ninjapopup . It looks pretty cool and has a lot of good features and themes and it only $18. It cant get any better than that. 2. I am going to have a subscription button on the right sidebar. The main reason I am going to do is because I want to reduce my dependency on Google as much as possible and while flipping the website if I tell them I have a list of targeted visitors to my website thats definitely going to be a positive thing to my flip. 6.Google Analytics. Like I said before I know you might argue about me putting this on my website but if you know how to use it , it is going to help you out a lot in making your website better. I am going to track my micro conversions ( email subscriptions , facebook shares etc ) and my macro conversions ( amazon sales, adsense clicks ) and do a loot of A/B split testing to see which one gives me the most revenue. I am going to use an additional tool which I am going to talk about later. 7. Hittail. I am really surprised by the fact that nobody is talking about hittail here or nobody is even discussing about it much. Its actually a pretty good service and its pretty cheap. What hittail does is it gives you real time long tail keyword suggestions for which you rank and get considerable amount of traffic from these long tail keywords alone. Its a pretty cheap service for what it does and I am going to continuously update about what kind of keywords hittail is going to suggest me. Check out hittail here : Non affiliate link Affiliate link 8. Visual website optimizer This is yet another cool tool to A/B test your website. This tool gives you heatmaps and other information about the behaviour of my visitors. I can use this information to A/B test the positioning of my ads on my website. They have a free account which tracks a 1000 visitors and when necessary I will shift to a paid account. I will keep updating on my A/B testing also when I do it. 9. Monetization I will be using both Adsense and amazon to monetize my website. Amazon I will use it with email marketing and create a page called hot deals and see how many people I can attract to it or I will use email marketing to send traffic to the hot deals page. I am going to A/B test this too and see which works best. 10. Off page SEO I will be using my own team to build links for me and I will build links myself. I will focus primarily on web 2.0s with unique content , guest posts and other quality stuff. I will also try to get some good white hat links from news site using HARO. This is pretty difficult to do but I wont discount it. 11. Buzz bundle I will be using yet another tool to both build good quality links and get direct traffic to my website using Buzz bundle. Buzz bundle is a listening tool which listens to your keyword mentions across the internet and comes back with results . Its basically like Google alerts on steroids. It costs $97 and its from link assistant. I am going to do all this to ensure a revenue of $x,xxx and then flip it after a few months for a good amount of money. I will also be implementing Facebook fan pages and twitter and try to reduce my dependency on Google as much as possible. I will be building multiple websites on the same front and I am going to update you guys regularly as to what I am doing how I am doing and how much I am earning along the way. Wish me luck!
