Hey y'all, I recently turned 19. The past one year has been a very rough after I failed my highschool. Months after the incident, I found myself neck deep in self-destructive practices. I used to get stoned twice/thrice daily. I also took upon smoking cigarettes, even though I hated the smell of cigarettes reeking from my body. I was living life just for the sake of living it. I had no goals, no motivation, no idea of what I was doing and where I was heading with my choices.

Fast-forward 9 months: I was stoned as hell and went to the washroom to freshen up as my body was stinking with sweat(I live in a region with high humidity). As I washing my face, I took at a look in the mirror. I saw myself. Dark circles, stubble beard and acne. It wasn't a charming sight at all, but then came the realization that whatever self-destructive practices I've engaged myself with need to stop. I realized that there was never ever going to be a better tomorrow if I don't work for it. There will never be a change in my life until I take charge of my life.

Fast-forward 3 months: I have completely given up on cigarettes. Sober for 90 days.
The hardest part I had to do was giving up on stoning. It just felt soooo good after the first 2 drags, that I never really did care or gave a shit about anything in the world. I just wanted to feel good, have no sense of whats happening in the world and just live in the moment. ( You get what I'm trying to say, right? )

Fast-forward present: I have completely given up on 420 and I have been sober for 50 days. It took me some time to completely give up, but I finally gave in. For a better tomorrow.

Now, the intro's done, time for the journey part.

This will be a unique journey where I'll be updating and penning down stats about all my ventures and projects, from revenue to income and how I'll be investing my money so I can retire with a good sum of money when I turn 30.

Currently, I have 2 websites up on different niches w/ a partner and I've launced another one. For future references, let's call these as ADWEBSITE1, ADWEBSITE2, ADWEBSITE3 respectively. All these blogs will be monetized with Adsense.

I also have a Followliker license and I'm currently researching and reading multiple journeys and threads on BHW to get a good grasp of the IG game. I plan to grow accounts and sell shoutouts, thus creating a income stream of monthly passive income. More updates on this venture by end of this week.

Now for the investing part, I am starting with scratch here. My bank balance is practically ZERO. I landed a content writing gig which pays me $6 for 1000 words article. It ain't much, but its a start. I have already written 2 articles and I plan to write 20 by the end of week, thus netting me an amount of $120. That should be enough to cover basic expenses and plan the Instagram Venture.

    TL;DR
Hit rock bottom. Quit self-destructive practices. Starting to build my way up in the world and live a more healthier lifestyle with financial independence and retire at the age of 30.

& for people who think I'll be quitting this journey, I won't. Being committed towards a higher goal is something that has brought me so far.

Yes, discipline is the key. TBH, stoning hasn't even crossed my mind from last few weeks.

    Small Update:

Finished writing another set of 3 articles today. Total comes down to 5 articles!

More 15 to go to reach the goal. I'll try to finish these by Sunday. I slowly picking pace, I'll try to hit 4article/day tomorrow.

    UPDATE:

Procrastination is a nasty son of a bitch. I spent most of my time surfing the internet yesterday and got very little done. However, today I've beaten myself. I have finally found my flow and I've been writing articles constantly with short 15-20 minutes break to refresh my mind. At this pace I will be hitting my goal sooner. My current plan is to give my 110% and see how many extra articles I can get done apart from my set goal.

I applied to LosPollos. Got accepted. I will be testing their smartlink offer on my snapchat in the upcoming days.

The journey will be more interesting in the coming days ;)

    UPDATE #3

Even though I had enough time on my hands I failed to acheive my goal of penning down 20 articles. I set the deadline for today night but I've only written 15 articles so far.
Even though I set a goal which was well within my reach, because of indiscipline and lack of focus I have failed. It is disappointing but I hope there will be a better tomorrow and I will strive hard to make it so!

    Realization #1

I need to instill discipline and change my mindset. I'm lacking focus. I keep my phone on silent and turn it upside down(screen facing down) while I'm working. I do not open Social Media while I'm penning down articles. Even after all this, my mind wanders astray and I find myself thinking and day-dreaming myself in hypothetical situations.

    Game plan:

Write 5 articles tomorrow without fail. Read books and reading material available on the internet about how to focus properly. I also plan to update this journey daily without fail so I can keep myself accountable.

I'd highly appreciate anyone sharing reading material or resource on instilling discipline and how to focus properly.

Also to anyone who's disapponinted that there's update no about my current earnings, here some stats for you:
I'm currently make around 12$/day by penning down 2 articles. Since the journey has started I've managed to write 3/day. I want to increase the number of articles written on a daily basis to around 5/day as I've managed to get an order of another set of 20 articles in the same niche from the employer. So after completing 40 articles, I'll be having around $240 to put into my existing blogs and also launch new micro niche blogs.

    UPDATE #4

Had unexpected guests at the house yesterday, was away from my workstation the whole day. Managed to write 2 articles yesterday.

Tough was a interesting rough day. I woke up late and had depressing thoughts. I spent the whole afternoon in bed and somehow managed to get my ass out of bed at around 5 P.M. It was just another day battling depression and negative mindset. I am working towards developing a better and stable state of mind. One which is focused and always concious of the final goal which is yet to be achieved.

Penned down 4 articles after putting in continuous hours after I got out of bed at 5. I used the Pomodoro technique which has been of great help. I was able to complete 4 articles in 6 hours using this technique.

    Game Plan:

Start my day early tomorrow and hit my target of 5 articles! I'm 100% sure I'll be able to hit my target tomorrow. Should have the seed money of $240 by end of this week!

    Cheers!

Very good that you have made significant changes in your life. You are so young, I bet so many great things will happen in your life in the future if you will keep up great work! As you mentioned, only you can change your life. Sometimes is good to self-reflect about our reactions to certain circumstance. Why do you have so many self-destructive behaviors? There is no need to open up, I am not nosey, but maybe if you would reflect at this problem you could diagnose the root causes of these behaviors and overcome them more easily.

For example me: all my life I have dealt with my problems alone, even as a little girl...especially the last 5 years was very difficult for me, but I didn't share my problems with anyone. Dealt with them alone and no one even notices that there is something wrong, that I'm going through really nasty shit, because I always tried to be in a good mood, smile, laugh. Even my best friends or parents didn't notice.

But that's what I was taught, to not show my weakness, to not show my vulnerability, that vulnerability is a weakness, asking for help is a weakness. I was afraid that when I show my vulnerability someone could use this against me. I'm working on this lately, accepting fully my weakness, because when I accept them fully no one could even poke me :) that asking for help it's not a shame etc.

That was deep hahah I don't know you, but I am very proud of you, you are doing a great job, my friend :)

However, it sounds :rolleyes::rolleyes: practice self-love might help you. And I'm not talking about taking bubble baths or other Pinterest/Instagram definition of this, but being proud of yourself, thinking about yourself in a good way, meditations, affirmations etc.

    Good luck with your journey!

    UPDATE #5

Fuck yeah, I've beaten myself! I have finally managed to write 5 articles today without fail. It's not much of an acheivement but it is progress and I'm happy with it.

    Game Plan:

Start early and finish writing articles. Should have all articles done by Saturday if I continue writing at my current pace.

    Cheers!

Just do it man! Take action now!

A small advice from my side would be to define your goals first. Also plan your next day before you go to sleep so you know what tasks you have to do throughout the day.

Life is hard my man. Don’t give up. You’ll get places, if not next year then a year after - persistency is what’s hard to keep.

Good. Once you get past day 3 of not doing it, you are home free. If you are 90 days into it, your'e good.

I stopped setting deadlines a long time ago. They don't work. All they do is force you to focus on the deadline, instead of your work.

What works is: sitting down and doing the work until it is complete. Not by Friday.

I keep this meme on my desk. When things aren't coming together the way I want, just remember:

    UPDATE #6

Acheived my goal of penning down 5 articles easily without breaking a sweat. Should have all articles done by weekend.

    Game Plan:

Start my day early in the morning. I have a bad habit of waking up late in the morning at 10-11. I need to break this bad habit immediately.
I spend half of my day reading various topics related to productivity on Quora. I learned about the 21 day rule today. Time to put it to practice from tomorrow. Will be aiming to wake up at 8 and will slowly push it to 6 A.M in the coming week. If there's anything I've learned after starting this journey is not to push yourself too much right from the start. Take baby steps towards your goal.

    Cheers!
