First off the title is in reference to Monty Python if you didn't know. How does that relate?

I've been running a site, a site dedicated to the one and only tailored Knight Hoodie! Very niche in otherwords. It's off to a rather slow start and I'm definitely on a journey to ranking better and making more $! Yes it has made Sales and I've only really put time and effort into it (very minimal amount of money).

But I got some dying questions to ask after testing design after design to convert better.

    1. Do you think it's better to include the price of shipping in the price of the product? (Mind you it's $44 for international expedited shipping) OR better to have it separate? That is viewing... $218 + 44 shipping or $261 FREE EXPEDITED SHIPPING?

    2. Any improvements or suggestions you think would help with conversions? I've had some days of large traffic spikes of 900+ views BUT NO CONVERSION. Something is seriously wrong. Bounce rate is sitting at roughly 20% as of today.

    3. Trust signals?

    4. No paid traffic as of yet but I want to make sure organic traffic is going to convert before I even think about doing paid advertising.

Regardless... the site itself not the Etsy store needs to make more money! Save from etsy fees etc.

Want to make some $1000 dollar days! :)

So I ultimately decided to try doing the price point of 218 + 44 for shipping and see if that converts better this time around. Previously I had it this way but not during the large traffic spikes. We shall see!

What a strangely weird, yet fun, piece of clothing you have there. I really like it. I actually know some people that would probably spend that kind of money for it.

Maybe I missed it, but you really need some videos of people wearing it.

On the pricing, I really don't think it matters. At that price point (very expensive), I don't think $40 is going to swing anyone one way or another. Just my hunch.

Good to know! I've been debating about sending it to some popular bloggers especially some real Bad females who could cause a stir with it and have nerds drooling. A video would definitely top things off. Has anyone had experience reaching out to big name bloggers/instagramers/youtube stars?

So far, I've seen positive results for not displaying price on the home page. Bounce rate has had a significant percentage drop and drum roll... more conversions. It's crazy how much you have to experiment to nail down process for better conversions. I wonder if anyone else here has had a product that requires users to input measurements. As we know, the more fields you have to fill out the more likely someone is to abandon a cart. I wonder if there is a better way to streamline this process.

Has anyone ever had an issue with the search engines switching pages that you are competing on for your main keyword? It is switching between my product colors and once in a while my home page. Any way to control this? No penalties or anything like that in google webmaster tools.

Awesome job man, its crazy how you tweaked a little thing and started seeing conversions. What are you using to promote your product? Instagram, twitter, pinterest?

No doubt, it's the little things that matter!

For social media platforms I've found most success with facebook and reddit.

I have used instagram and have seen good feedback and lots of people tagging each other which is a good sign... BUT I admit that I've been SUPER LAZY with it and haven't used it to its true potential.

I haven't even tried cracking twitter and I don't think it would be ideal either.

I have noticed A LOT of my visitors are naturally coming from MOBILE devices now since a lot of traffic is social driven. So even though my site is mobile optimized... I really have to consider if a mobile user will convert and so far I haven't seen a mobile user convert minus one person who emailed in asking how to checkout (not a good sign). I feel with measurements that it may be somewhat frustrating to users so maybe it would be better to take $ first and then ask for measurements :p

But I must say the changes I've done in this little time have made an INSANE difference. We're talking bounce rate of 70% dropped down to 15% and still dropping! I would have been okay with 30% even. Organic ranking has improved too which I think goes to show bounce rate definitely plays a factor.

Did some more testing today, but this time on a different site of mine that is my main source of income. Mirrored what I did to this one and hmmm wow... what a difference again!

My advice: when you find things that work, repeat and scale up!

So I had a great amount of traffic the other day for pretty much the whole day at this rate. What is surprising is the amount of mobile users out there. Just goes to show if your site isn't mobile optimized, you're gonna have a bad day.
