I have been from pillar to post, one IM method to another and seriously fed up of this shit, not to mention completely broke.

This is my final shot: Kindle. I am following the model of churning out book after book after book and ZERO promotion.

Some guy on WF says he makes $200 a day from 50 books, for example.

For the next 30 days, I will write for Kindle. I will publish one book every day in the following:

    - Erotic Fiction (easiest to write for)
    - Regular Fiction
    - Non-fiction (mainly "how to")

These books do not have to be long. Only around 5,000 words which is like 10 articles. If you write about what you already know (at least to start with) this is easier than you think.

I don't care if my first books are shit. The main thing is to get them out there.

Now I don't want to be alone on this challenge. Who is going to join me?

Rest of tonight I will keep reading more about how to do Kindle stuff but tomorrow I start writing and publishing.

Thats a lot of writing. Make sure to update this thread - maybe with the names or something to keep yourself on track. If you stay motivated and actually turn out books daily or weekly ( I think something more reasonable to shoot for ) than it could be a great success. I have yet to do anything with kindle but have heard its profitable in the past. Best of luck!

Thanks, you are right. It is a lot. My original target was one book every two days but I can see that slipping.

I am capable of doing one a day so that is what I will do. I need a meaty target, something I can really strive for. Otherwise I will slacken. I realize the dangers of over-ambitious targets but I know I can do this.

I will try to write mostly from what I know already which is a great deal. I will also write based on my own life experiences.

A few months ago I wrote two erotic fiction and never bothered uploading and I aimed for 5,000 words for each and easily surpassed that. The key for me was to not get writers block or have to research anything.

Interesting. I will follow your progress and look forward to see the results. I have considered writing some how to e-books, but have not found the time yet.

Use Dragon Naturally speaking. There is a crack for it on BHW.
All you have to do is narrate the story and edit it accordingly.

Thanks, but I am not a fan of dictation. I have quite a high typing speed using all fingers :)

This is interesting. Not sure if I can do 30 in 30 with kids, full time job and other responsibilities, but I will subscribe and see if I can play a long.

Will you be using different pseudonyms for the genres? It would look a bit weird to have "Joe Smith" writing Erotica and non-fiction technical books.

Yes, I'm going to have at least 3 pen names. One for erotica, one for non-fiction and one for fiction.

I may need to have further for the non-fiction as I will likely write about different subjects. We'll see.

Ironically, after all my niche writing, I may end up writing very little non-fiction because writing flows much more easily with fiction in many ways. We'll see.

OK time to get cracking! Will report back in several hours!

Took me around 4 hours but I've written 5,000 words for my first fictional story.

It's pretty dire in many ways but I'm learning as I go along. The story changed quite a lot as I was writing it!

I'm now taking a further hour to edit it to correct mistakes and rephrase some things. Then I will upload it for review.

I seriously don't mean to be the buzzkill in this thread...but I think you're going to find that this is much harder than it looks.

I work with authors (and musicians, comedians, artists of all kinds). The writers I promote (even those that write Erotic fiction; which, you're correct, is the easiest to churn out quick) can take upwards of 6 months to a year to pound out something decent.

I know that you indicated that you don't care if the work is shit - but the fact is, you're not going to sell anything if it's shit. The Kindle marketplace is incredibly competitive. I work with very talented authors that are struggling to get their books noticed and sales rank up to where their works appear even as a suggestion on Amazon.

In order to sell their (once again - really GOOD) works, they have to promote the hell out of them. <--- this is typically what they hire me for. This involves book trailers and tons of YT promotion, blog tours, ad buys on Google and FB, etc. And even then, it can be hard to move the needle.

Please don't let this detour you in any way. I'm very much looking forward to seeing your progress. You might be able to stumble on to something that I might be able to use to help my writers!! But do know that this may not be the easy money that the guy writing on WF says it is (go figure - some douche on WF exaggerating their success!!). You've certainly got a challenge ahead of you. But I, for one, will be happy to throw out some tips as you go along if you continue to update this thread!

Remember - the quality has got to be decent or it will simply be ignored. Factor in zero promotion and there's no point in doing this at all.

Just some food for thought. Now make it work, my friend!!

I would focus on getting fewer titles out there and put some more work into making them decent. A good "how to" title can sell but as padlock said without any promotion you will be disappointed. Also - what is your price point for these books? It seems like free to .99 will be max you could sell them for. It is easy to upload shit to kindle direct but it is a whole other thing to sell titles.

Hey no problem. Maybe I should add a little more.

First, my writing skills are very good. I have written several ebooks so am not a total beginner to book writing. I have also sold my content as PLR and received very good reviews. I don't want to give away my background but I can write better than most people.

So when I said my book was dire, I meant according to my very high standards. I have just now gone over the first draft, making corrections and changing the phrasing and I am quite happy with the finished product.

I hear what you are saying about it taking 6 months to get out a good product but I am not making the same kind of ebooks. Your clients sound like serious novelists. That is not what I am doing.

My books will average around the 5,000 words mark, nowhere near novel length.

As for erotic fiction, as far as I know, there are two ways to write it. One is to write a good erotic novel, concentrating particularly on the female market.

Another method that I have seen on BHW and another Kindle forum is to just churn out what I would call "sex stories". The kind of stories that have been free one the internet since it began and even before, on BBSs. I am not trying to be the next EL James, not at all. Sex stories are more "filthy" and graphic. More men enjoy them, but so do some women. This is no poetry! :D

There is one guy on BHW who said he wrote about the filthiest stuff he could think of. That is not EL James style erotica at all.

Also, I do not intend to do any promotion. I am following the method of set and forget. Look around and there are many Kindle authors doing this. I know of countless stories of people who upload and move on and they make sales. Try this with a standard ebook online and it is impossible. I may promote when I get fed up of writing but, for now, I will just keep on writing. You may doubt the guy on the WF but I do not, that guy precedes when the place was shit (his name is Dean Shainin) plus there are so many other examples of taking the mass approach.

I'm no novel writer. Perhaps one day, but not in the next 30 days.

Lol, you could say that about anything.

Let me reiterate, if you add an ebook to a web site, nothing will happen.

If you add a book to Amazon, you will make sales.

That's one hell of a difference.

I've done some extensive research on this and with "how to" books, loading the title and description with keywords is sufficient.

From my research I have done, I intend at pricing initially at $2.99 and seeing what happens from there.

Uploading "shit"? That is not my intention. What I meant above was that it will be a "learn as I go" process and I expect to get better :) Also, you make a classic mistake by thinking one must aim for the gutter of up to 99 cents. My research shows that many have seen higher number of sales when raising the price. It's about perceived value, I guess.

Interesting stuff, florflor. I'm certainly interested in watching this thread and seeing how you fare and, again, I'll be happy to offer any relevant thoughts as they might pop up.

It's occurred to me also to just upload a shit-ton of erotic stories posted by fledgling wanna-be authors on old BBS threads (some of it is actually quite good!). In fact, I've read some things on Literotica that I thought might make for an awesome compilation...but, then, a lot of those guys/gals are actually real authors that could flag the 'work' in question pretty quickly.

Also...have you thought about posting your stuff at other popular eBook sites like SmashWords or sites that cater to Nook and such?
