So I recently started reading about how to make money online and found this site. I read and researched different methods for 2 weeks straight. I would read for hours and hours and I decided to finally take some action.

I decided to go about writing and publishing my own books. So far I have written two of my own non-fiction books (~3500) words in 2 weeks and published them. My second one just went on its free promotion. It took 2 days after my first books promotion to get my first sale! I woke up today and saw 2 sales in my account and I was so happy even if it was for such a small amount.

I currently have a few writers that I have outsourced working for me to continue at a rate of about 1 book/week.

The reason I say my goal is 20$/day is because I have never made any money online other than making gaming videos on youtube. That came and left and now I am stuck with a new journey. I figure 20$ is a goal that I can reach and I will be happy when i do. I have invested some money and I am determined to get that investment back and then some! I will try to update this thread as much as possible.

    Current stats:

    Time frame - 2 weeks
    Total books - 2
    Invested - 0$
    profit - 6.71$

The reason the investment is still at 0$ is because i haven't payed my writers yet and haven't received my content.

My goal eventually is to scale it up and create blogs and niche sites to bring in specific sales and promote my books more.

Well done for taking action :)

Just out of interest, do you do any other promotion for your books, except the 5 day free thing?

    I wish you luck! :D

Good luck, your thread makes me wonder if I should shorten my upcoming non-fiction e-book a bit to keep more material for later. :)

Yup! There are a number of places that accept your book when its free and promote it as well as social media groups. I am assuming these helped. My first book only got about 270 downloads and i did a little bit more promotion for my second. Hopefully my second is over 300~ free downloads.

270 downloads is not too big number, but also depends on your niche.
How many natural reviews did you get from these free downloads? Or do you get reviews in a different way?

I have no reviews at all so far. I know reviews are a big thing so I will need to work on that at some point.

Although the review grabbing tool would be very useful, I don't exactly have the money to invest in something like that especially since i don't know about results from emailing people to review my book. I will have to do it manually which i just don't see as being realistic, or wait it out

Update for what I have done today:

My second book went on promotion today. The day is almost done and i am only at about 70 free downloads. A bit disappointing as I did more marketing for this one...

I was busy today doing more research and I am waiting on my ghostwriters to supply me with content. I might try writing another book or two myself just to get the ball rolling a bit faster.

Just an FYI, I have one non-fiction niche and one fiction niche. Both of the books published right now are non-fiction. I think I might have more success with my fiction niche but we will have to wait and see.

    Update for today

So i got up today, no new sales and not that many free downloads of my other book. I had contacted 2 of my writers and one seems to be finished and the other is almost finished (for my fiction genre). The plan for today is to go golfing with my brother, then work on an assignment for school due tonight. After that I will go on to order an ebook cover from fiverr and edit the first story.

Good luck man! I have a book that I personally wrote on Amazon and I'm going to be outsourcing another using oDesk or Elance. There's tons of sites online you can submit your book to in order to increase free downloads and sales. Also, be sure to make a Twitter or Facebook related to your author pen name or book. These methods worked for me and I have over 3k downloads so far!

I've been out of town for a few days visiting the girlfriend so it wasn't exactly possible for me to get any work done. I now have 3 stories ready for editing, formatting and uploading from my writers. I need to pay them now. I also need to order some covers off of fiverr. I will post another update of current sales and investment$$ tomorrow

Before going to bed today, I am going to edit and format my first fiction book that I received from my ghostwriter. I also ordered a cover for it from fiverr. The free download period of my second non fiction book is done as well. It did slightly better than the first.

    Current stats:

    Total books - 3
    Invested - 15$
    profit - 11.15$

So i just finished editing and formatting two books from ghostwriters. It is tedious work but it has to be done. I know I am still starting this up and the hardest part and most work is starting. I am still trying to create a website for my fiction niche and profiles, social media, etc etc. The beginning is tough but I hope to be done in a week with everything that needs to be done and from there I can focus on simpy making books and publishing them in a system. It'll only require me to work about 3 or so hours per book.

I mean i am glad that I have made 13.4$ pretty much but I hope by the end of the month I start to see some returns for my efforts.
