    Home Page:
Before I start, this is not a political thread. I am merely documenting my journey to profit from a political website. Please refrain from leaving any politically-oriented comments. This is a marketing forum, not a debate club.

Fake news has made it into the public eye quite a lot recently, and I'm here to show you all just how profitable it can be.

As some of you may, or may not, know there's an upcoming election here in England, which means over the course of the next month, around 30m people will suddenly become fully-qualified political advisors.

If there's one thing that gets people passionate the most, it's politics. I'm going to be taking advantage of this and creating a controversial news site. I'm mainly going to fill it up with nonsense news that I make up as I type, but I'm also going to fill out the homepage with real stories to keep users engaged.

    The Plan:

While SEO will definitely play a big part in the second segment of this journey, I'm a bit too late off the mark on this site so I will instead be focusing on social media traffic. I did something very similar with the recent American election and it worked like a charm, but I'm going to be doing some things differently this time around.

Most of the articles are going to follow a generic format (Something like "[Name] CAUGHT [Somehting]" or "[Name] ANNOUNCES [Soemething]" or "[Name] STEPS DOWN AS [Position]" etc) but I do have a few articles planned that have the potential to really hit the big headlines. Over the past few months, I've learnt that it's not what you write that makes an article successful, it's how you present it. I'm going to be making the website look authentic as possible with a bunch of graphs and statistics quoted from some random institute with a long name that should hopefully confuse people enough to make them accept it.

For traffic, I will be focusing on three main sources: Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit. Social media is a beautiful thing because once I give the articles a little push and get them out there, other people who believe the crap will share it around to their 300 friends, and then some of them will share it around.

Twitter: Twitter was the biggest success when I last promoted some fake news, so I'll be starting here. I'm not going to go very in-depth into the complete process here, but I will say that it involves pretending to be a major news source. This has worked really well in the past and there are many cases of fake news from these accounts (Not mine personally but the same method) reaching the mainstream media:

(But shhh... don't mention it on BHW guys, you'll get your head kicked in :D)

Facebook: Facebook is something that I've never really bothered with, but I figured now was the time to get stuck in. Because I'm still new to FB I'm going to be testing out two different methods (Maybe someone like @Inception_AC who knows what they're doing could give me a little advice on what works for them)

FaceBook's demographics are perfect for a political site.

The first thing I am going to be trying is posting to some political groups and causing a stir. I'm going to be doing this both manually (This has a much better conversion rate, as I'm able to reply in a human way and respond to debates etc) and automatically with the help of MassPlanner.

There are hundreds of groups just like these ^ that are the perfect targets for a political website.

As well as posting to these groups, I'm also going to be killing two birds with one stone by building up some accounts. I'm probably going to hire a VA or two to go through these political groups and add some of the more vocal members as friends. I haven't really decided exactly how I'm going to do this, but I'm probably going to build up 10 accounts to 5000 friends for every Political Part I write about on the site. I'll then share some articles on the accounts and sell them on at a later date.

Reddit: Reddit is an entirely different beast when comared to FaceBook and Twitter. I'm not going to say that people who use Reddit are more intelligent than your typical social media user, but it's certainly moderated a lot stricter and people will call you out on your BS right away.

I will be using a number of semi-established Reddit accounts to post in political subreddits like /r/conservatives and /r/snp and then boosting the posts with upvotes. I'm also going to try the new Reddit Front Page Service so that should be interesting.

If you're interested in how I have been/will be growing the accounts to post with, I'm using three methods.

    #1 (With my own twist)
#2 (Also with my own twist)
#3 - About a week-or-so ago I discovered the subreddit /r/RoastMe and since then I've been growing some accounts by being the certified dick that I am. I now have around 10 accounts in the 1-10,000 Karma range and, while it's not a lot, it gives me that extra bit of security.
Reddit are notoriously harsh on self-promoters and I have had multiple sites of mine banned there in the past when trying methods. The good thing about this site is that it's not Search Engine dependent, so I can easily change the domain name and get right back to it.

    Monetization:

There have been a lot of claims recently that companies are cutting down on fake news, so it's possible that I'll be hit with a nice ban from Adsense. Before that happens though, I'll be splattering the site with some Adsense adverts with a banner in each article, at the end, and maybe at the side.

While Google may be able to ban this site for fake news, there's nothing stopping me growing a second, legitimate site. This is going to take up the second part of this journey thread, as the election will be over soon, and I'm hoping to grow a more influential news site. I'm going to be doing three things to get visitors from the fake site to the legit one:
    • Like-Jacking: With roughly a 3rd of the visitors coming from FaceBook (Assuming that all 3 traffic methods have the same effect - which they won't) there will be plenty of people to like jack. I haven't decided if I will grow one main page for my news site, or grow multiple small ones that I will sell on later. We'll see.
    • Email Marketing: I've been getting really interested in email makreting over the past few days. I've built up a list of around 300 people interested in maketing now, and I'm excited to see how sucessful I'll be doing the same with politics. I'm probably just going to send people news stories from my authentic site, but I may also try to do some affiliate markeing with books and merchandise.
    • Direct Links: If AdSense isn't performing too great I'll most likely promote my main site in the banner space instead.

    What I've already done:
    • I registered an amazing domain, thanks to LeanDomainSearch. It's got absolutely no authority SEO-wise, but it's a killer domain to brand. I don't know how no one had snatched it up already, but it's mine now ;)
    • I've fully configured the site, and it's pretty much good-to-go. I made a few custom logos that I'll be playing with over the next week, as well as loads of different graphics for social media etc. I'm using a news theme that looks incredible. I've also set-up a range of plugins, like post rating system and a nice comments section that should hopefully keep people on the site for as long as possible.
    • I posted the headings for 30 legitimate articles, as well as 10 made-up ones.
    • I've noted down 10 ideas for viral articles.
    What I need to do:
    • Create an "Official" Twitter, FB, IG etc for the account.
    • Organize all of the accounts that I will be using to spam into a spreadsheet.
    • Hire a VA (Or myself) to befriend some FB members.
    • Test out MP's options for Facebook. Build up a list of Groups and then join them and test the posting process.
    • Write the introduction to the 30 real articles on the site.
    • Write the 10 made up articles whose headings I have already posted, as well as 10 more that I've already posted.
    • Set up the Twitter system that I will be using.
    • Test different subreddits to gauge their reactions.

The Journey section has to be one of my least-favourite areas on the forum because of the number of people who get going and then just abandon-ship (I've been guilty of this in the past). I'm not going to have something to update you guys on every day, but whenever something new happens I'll make sure to reply. If I go AWAL at any point make sure to tag me in the thread to remind me
(Once again, please refrain from leaving any politically-oriented comments. This is a marketing forum, not a debate club.)

Sound interesting, but why would you need to make fake news after all if even most of the real ones are already eye catching for any user and even with a twisted title for click bait you can get gooood traffic to the article. I did tried this on my site last week and I got over 60K visits in 1 day and still that article is bringing about 50-100 visits a day, but despite the shares and the viral effect it only last couple of days until people realize it was fake and they started calling it out fake news and stopped sharing it. Probably for me is not good as I intend to make a good authority news website and I do not want people stop sharing my news articles cuz they think my site is fake.

Anyways good luck with your journey!!

No sir, fake is always better -> "Trump broke his little finger, amputation needed, the family is devastated".

You will be downvoted to hell on Reddit if you post fake news.
    I'd recommend Voat.co though
    Seems like an interesting journey!
Will be following along. Good luck!

Really? Pathetic. There are some limits to IM and making people think the Queen died surpasses those limits. Have some damn morals, money isn't everything, live with at least a little honor.

Shut up. The UK government tax alcohol which causes over 2/3s of crime and is one of the biggest killers in the world. They hardly live with honour.

    This is literally harming nobody.
