[Journey] Growing a niche website from scratch with Pinterest as a main traffic source. [Goal: 10m+ monthly Pinterest views]

Thanks a lot for answering . Also , how many pins do you create to post on Pinterest per blog post ?
Depends on the type of post. I did around 30-50 pins for listicles, because I was pinning image only pins combined with a few image+text pins. Now, I'm thinking whether to continue pinning image only pins cuz their CTR is that bad.

You can get away with a lot of pins for a single post as long as each one of them is unique.
I am pissed at big G a month ago when they tanked my 2 new sites. since then I was planning for non google traffic like pinterest, tik tok and FB.

I've published some pinterest worthy posts on one of my blogs. Then tried pinning them on P. but in the second post pintrest flaged my site as spammy. IDK may be the account is new. maybe another reason.
today I was surfing the BHW and stunble uppon your journey.
This motivated me to not to give up. Thanks and keep this up.
You can't really rely on Google anymore. Good idea to diversify with other traffic sources. I believe that Pinterest and Facebook are the best social medias for traffic right now, because you can link to any post. Tiktok is probably better for brand searches or targeted aff links.

You might have pinned too much. It's better to warm up the account with only 5-10 pins per day when you start off.

Glad you've found some motivation from my ramblings!

Thanks so much , so without image only pins you are pinning around 5 image+text pins per post , right ? Or are you doing more?

I'm still waiting for a hockey stick effect on my chart since I've pinned quite a lot of pins over the last couple of weeks. I'm seeing growth, but it's not quite what I expect.

I know it may sound like a brag, but I'm certain that many of my pins & overall content are better than what's currently ranking on the Pinterest SERPs. Some of the pins that occupy the top spots are a joke. The pins look like they were made in MS Paint, the landing pages are irrelevant to the main query, and the sites look like complete doo-doo. I don't understand the algo sometimes.

I'm usually doing more. Only when I'm extremely lazy will I pin 4-5 per post and call it a day.

And for pins targeting the same URL , do you like post multiple of them per day ? or how do you space them out ?

You're getting great results with this, how much did the traffic grow in March compared to February? I'm interested in trying Pinterest for one of my blogs as well but I've never worked with the platform before. Do you know anyone on YouTube or X that one could follow to get more info on the strategy? What kind of niches are best? Only heard Pinterest works best for fashion, home decor and DIY before. Also, could you maybe show a Pinterest account/website that does this that I can check out? Not your own obviously, feel free to drop a PM if you like.

Another record day yesterday. I did break the 30k impressions milestone the day before but not the 400+ clicks one.

:) not bad there 441 clicks there is the Main objective. The impressions actually not the main target. Is those Clicks. Which ad publisher you doing since you aim for Mediavine. I see Mediavine requirement is Strict.

You're on a roll. It is also an interesting case study to see how the Pinterest algorithm actually works, whether there is a similar hockey stick effect as it used to be on Google (after all it is a search engine, just of a different kind), or things work in another way here.

Any case, congrats, and good luck going forward.

Mate, you remind me a lot with your strange expression style one guy who used to be a member here, a few years ago, with a few thousands posts, and had the exact same avatar as you do have :). And I liked that member a lot, because it was funny for me to read their posts.

By any chance, are you the same member? :D

Here are the GA stats for March. Although the report says 100% session growth, the numbers are still small, so they are nothing to write home about.

I recommend Tony Hill on X. He has a newsletter in which he shares good stuff, mostly about Pinterest and Google Discovery.

I would take his tactics with a grain of salt, though. He's doing case studies with accounts that use aggressive strategies like 100+ pins daily. I've seen a few people complaining about getting shadow-banned. Pushing so many pins a day could be one of the reasons for such a ban.

Here are some of the best niches (curated list from a bunch of sources and also some of my recommendations):
✅ Food & Drink
✅ DIY & Crafts
✅ Home Decor
✅ Fashion & Beauty
✅ Travel
✅ Lifestyle
✅ Personal Finance (Frugal Life and Side Hustles)
✅ Quotes & Inspiration
✅ Holidays
✅ Fitness
✅ Parenting
✅ Gardening
✅ Humor
✅ Pets
✅ Self-Improvement
✅ Entertainment
✅ Education
✅ Relationships
✅ Wedding

I'll send you a PM with some interesting accounts I've found by randomly browsing a few topics. Pinterest could work for many niches, not just those you've mentioned.
Best Of Luck On Your Journey.
Never Give Up Brother, Try Your Best.
I won't give up, but your bot account might give up to the ban hammer. (How did I do, Kikerinka? :D)
Good Luck with your Journey
Thanks, but your journey doesn't look very bright.

Impressions is just a vanity metric, I know, but naturally, more impressions > higher chance of clicks > traffic, right? I already wrote in my past posts that I've applied to Mediavine Journey, their lower-tier program.
Great results.

Can you tell how many pins you post a day for this results ? And do you duplicate them ?
20-30 a day. What do you mean by duplicate? I never use the same pin image twice, but I use the same URL for multiple pins.
Don't give up :D

Left it to die and haven't been active for like 2-3 years. Hence the other years where even better ;D
Nice stats! Why did you abandon the account? The CTR isn't amazing, but it looks like the algo likes your stuff since you're still receiving good traffic.

Thanks. I hope I see the hockey stick growth, but I'm happy to keep at this upward trajectory even if I don't.

Great Posts by the OP - very inspirational, It's got me posting every day on Pinterest and seeing results

Thanks for the share and following

I recently started a new venture and I am using Pinterest as side traffic, I have been blasting 200 pins per day from the RSS feed for less than a month now and no issues, as Pinterest takes images on its own and the limit is around 200 per day they can take from the feed. The new profile has 124k impressions 2.2k engaged, 100 outbound clicks (not a lot yet), total audience of 100k. Started to gain some followers as well.

Was my, old project, for an e-commerce store. The store was too much to deal with and had no time for it or the will to maintain it, and Pinterest account was left on autopilot for a year or two to just keep on going and it started to explode gaining thousands of followers every day. From what I see blasting is a legit strategy with Pinterest, but it requires consistency and takes maybe longer than just casually posting 10-30 pins per day. As you go for volume some pins get noticed faster some later. Also, I feel like there is a breakpoint in Pinterest etc. if you reach 100k impressions some followers start to pop in, and as you get to millions of impressions, that when stuff should start moving faster, so if you can achieve that with 10-30 pins a day cool, I cant be bothered so I spray and pray and so far done that for like 5 accounts and all seems to be doing fine.

Around 30 posts.

I'm scared to do that after reading those stories of people getting shadow-banned. I don't want to risk it, imo. Are you using AI images? The ones getting shadow-banned are mostly doing 100+ pins a day + AI images + same URL for the day. That seems too aggressive in the long term.

I feel like casually posting 10-30 pins a day is a lot easier than the spray-and-pray method, but maybe I don't have the systems in place.

I've seen accounts grow from nothing to 10 million views by spraying and praying. One of my competitors is a prime example. He posts 3 AI images every 30 minutes, but I can't replicate that even if I wanted to.

I'm still waiting for a hockey stick effect
Afaik pinterest doesn't do that (like google, ig, tt), just slow and steady growth. But let's see, who knows, maybe they will change their algo to copy tiktok like so many other apps do.

We use generated images, but not AI, we do 200, URLs are all different though. Tbh it's not aggressive to go for 200 per day if they allow themselves to take that amount from your feed, as long as it's not the same image and same link I see no issues.

Depends on how fast you want to grow according to your effort for the pins, more effort means fewer pins but higher engagement potential, but with the mass posting you care less about quality and just hope that some will pop off and they do more than none.
